what wood was that?
Was that the sandalwood you were all worked up about trying??
You sounded hot to trot on that stuff last we talked.
Don't let the future in-laws catch you snorting sawdust now, no matter how good it smells!!!

Thanked: 0Not the sandalwood.
I'm trying to find the best kit to compliment that blank.

Thanked: 0Tonight had a lot of bad mojo. I finished two pens only to find serious flaws (one in assembly, and one got a hairline crack).
But either way, here they are. I will remake ones very similar to them (because there is no exact in wood working) very soon.
This one was for Ilija, but it's the one I assembled wrong, will correct tomorrow night with a new blank and proper assembly.
And this one was for Paul (heliguy) in trade for a razor. This one got the hairline crack:
My fiancee is going to use it for her letter writing. I will do another one of these tomorrow also. After that, I'm done with pens until Monday.
I will keep myself to two pens a day.
Here are those two pens together:
Other pen attempts this evening led to split blanks, massive tear out, or more bad assembly.
I guess I'll have better luck next time.
Peace and joy,

Thanked: 0When it's done, it will look almost exactly like that. Just a minor set back that will be corrected.
Hopefully the next one I make looks as good for you. It might not have as much sapwood (the lighter wood) in the blank, but I promise you a striking pen.
Now, for the moment Shaun has been waiting for. His was a pen that last night had some assembly issues, but I fixed it and here it is, Shaun's Cocobolo Cigar Pen (Ballpoint).
Finished in CA for durability.
Hope you enjoy it, Shaun. I'll ship this week, but take your time on the razor.
