I am not a fan of selfies, but I will admit to watching video collections on YouTube of bad selfies from time to time, you the ones taken in a bathroom with the toilet lid up and someone forgot to flush, or the person's kid in the bachground while they're posing. I laugh and weep at the same time.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

I was at a Patriot's game and had a girl come up to me and ask me if she could take a picture with me. I had Patriot's earrings on and she
said she liked them and wanted to get a pic with them. Out comes this contraption known as a selfie stick. The rest is history.

I think it is sort of goofy to see people continually taking pix of themselves, posting them on FB, or other 'social media.' OTOH, when I was a kid, and into my twenties, there were photo booths where one or two people could sit down, pull a curtain, and for half a buck get a string of 5 photos taken. These were usually in what were called "dime stores." Woolworth's, Kresge's place that were a bit classier than today's dollar store.

In the generation that preceded mine they were called 'five and ten cent stores', five and dimes. By the time I was grown up the five was gone and they were dime stores. Now they are 'dollar stores', and not too far from now they'll probably be five and ten dollar stores ......... only no photo booths. Like so many things ...... obsolete.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Selfies. Ugh. Picture booth 'funny' buddy pictures. Ugh. "Look at me and my girlfriends wearing silly hats on a day everyone is wearing a silly hat. Ain't I swell yet silly at the same time? Tee-hee" Ugh. "Look at my huge pectorial muscles. Yes, I have an insane work-out regime and wear nothing but wife-beaters. Look, awesome, what?! bro! No, I don't need validation, I do this for myself." Ugh.

Did someone mention "firy pits down below"?

    .....

Damn, I'm old and cankerous before my time.

Thanks Jimmy, now I finally know what the five and dime reference in "summer of 69" is.

    John, the answer is no.

Someone else, the sergeant more than likely, was taking that pic for the "book".

Sign on the window at the checkout for the driver's license bureau cashier in North Jersey ...... "If you want a better picture, get a better face." ........
