That must have been exciting. ;)
Also, use / abuse is a funny thing.
I've consumed copious amounts of alcohol in college. And I still drink a shot or 2 regularly. To prove to myself that I have no problem, I regularly refrain from any alcohol for a couple of weeks. This is not difficult to me. I might like a shot of something strong, but not getting it doesn't affect me. After the fast is done, I often even forget that the day has passed when I said I could drink again.
Coffee otoh...
I quit coffee for my blood pressure.
And more than a month after having quit anything containing caffeine (and black / green tea) I still would like to drink coffee. Especially in the morning. And the funny thing is that when I tasted a sip of my wife's coffee last week (because I was curious if it would taste as bad as it smelled), I thought it tasted awful. Couldn't drink it. And yet I still long for how coffee used to taste :)
very interesting topic as my kids are getting clse to the age i was when i first smoked ..(14-15) ... but out of any drug out there right now i would try to steer my kids away from it but at the same time take them to a few friends houses were i used vacation time to watch them pull through cold turkey meth and heroin withdraws and let them see the harsh reality of closed veins , missing teeth and visiting there children under supervision ....
i try to keep my kids busy enough in hops that they may try something but not have the time for it !! i honestly thing hunting , shooting ,and fishing saved me cause it gave me a love other then drugs ans made me realize that $ on a drug thats gone inminues or $ on a gun to last a life time ... i also think that if one knows they havve an addictive personality they need to stay away from everything .. including straight razors ..lol..
anyways good luck i your situation and hopefully it all pans out !1
