A lot of the folks that "invented" HIGH risk property crimes in Miami back in the mid to late 80's were supposedly people that had been involved at varying low levels in the international drug trade. When that work dried up as the law came down on them and the business had to move, they found themselves in need of new "work" As dangerous as those type of robberies were, they were still much safer than the coke trade of the early 80's.

As for the internet "friends" you are right. A buddy of mine said once that if you go through life and make ONE real lifetime friend, a guy that would "take a bullet for you" so to speak, you are lucky. Two? You are blessed. The rest are all acquaintances and in the digital age, those acquaintances may be much more numerous because you can not only makes lots of new ones online, but also retain or reacquire old ones that would have gone forgotten otherwise. But they are even more casual/superficial.

Part of the problem is our digital world where folks think they have a multitude of "friends" but in reality they have "contacts" that can be "deleted" in an instant. When I was growing up your life revolved around your friends with whom you spent all your time. If you had no friends you were really isolated and looked at as something strange. Unfortunately in this age a lot of folks are isolated and I think that contributes to mental illness. These folks then sit around the computer and "stew in their Juices" and begin to act bizarre and do bizarre anti social things.

    Here go....................

Free Ride, WOW ----Wish I had thought of this!!!!!!!!!!
How to get $75k in benefits for you and your girlfriend.

    Follow these proven steps.

    1. Don't get married to her.
    2. Use your mom's address to get your mail sent to.
    3. The guy buys a house.
    4. Guy rents out house to his girl girlfriend who has 2 of his kids.
    5. Section 8 will pay 900 a month for a 3 bedroom home.
    6. Girlfriend signs up for Obamacare so guy doesn't have to pay out the butt for family insurance.
    7. Girlfriend gets to go to college for free being a single mother
    8. Girlfriend gets 600 a month for food stamps
    9. Girlfriend gets free cell phone
    10. Girlfriend get free utilities.
    11. Guy moves into home but uses mom's house to get mail sent to.
    12. Girlfriend claims one kid and guy claims one kid on taxes. Now you both get to claim head of house hold at $1800 credit.
    13. Girlfriend gets disability for being "crazy" or having a "bad back" at $1800 a month and never has to work again.

This plan is perfectly legal and is being executed now by millions of people. A married couple with a stay at home mom yields $0 dollars. An unmarried couple with stay at home mom nets:
    21,600 disability +
    10,800 free housing +
    6,000 free obamacare +
    6,000 free food +
    4,800 free utilities +
6,000 Pell grant money to spend +
12,000 a year in college tuition free from Pell grant +
8,800 tax benefit for being a single mother
    ---------
    $75,000 a year in benefits
Now you know why the country is 18 + trillion in debt, and your children will pay the price!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
    I rest my case.

    Ah yes, the moochers:

47%*300M people *75k/year /2(it's 75k per fornicating couple) = 5.3T/year is what they cost us taxpayers.

How many years has been Obama in office - 6.5? That's 34.5Trillion USD he's given them and since the debt is only 18T it means he put half of it on the country's credit card.
Now this doesn't include the illegals, how much do they get for free?

If only Romney had managed to win, he'd have had all those illegals self-deported, the moochers cut off from teat.gov and the rest of us would've been paying 15% tax just like him.
Instead we have to wait for Bush 3.0

Grew from birth to older in a small town 1940s/50's. Paper route...etc.
We were warned quietly to steer clear of certain "strange" people. Neighbors knew each other and so on.
Some folks were not nice. Some kids were not nice. Bullies were there to.

Being autistic, undiagnosed Aspergers, I was a weird kid but had friends to stick up for me. With the applied force generated by the menopausal penguins as I grew older; learned there are repercussions to any behavior, and so survived life. Now such children are riding the short bus and many are not allowed to develop. Social workers, insurance companies, and their contingency lawyers are the root of evil in my not-humble opinion.

I hear the lawyers are saying the Boston bomber's brain was adolescent..."They can't control impulses"...I had a malfunctioning brain and I had to control my impulses...still do!

I watched StPaul/Mpls change from fairly good places when i entered service in '59 to less and less habitable by the 80's. Lack of jobs and inflamed oratory from outsiders did the deed. Joy riding city schmucks are now killing folks in rural homes.

Your mileage may have varied drastically.

Interesiting, The Tsarnaev boy was a year older than Arthur MacArthur, Douglas' father, was when he won his Congressional Medal of Honor at Chattanooga in 1963. I guess old Arthur had some impulse control issues what with him disobeying orders when he grabbed the regimental colors and led the men up that hill. Sure, an 18 year old might actually not have the impulse control of say a 40 year old and that MIGHT be relevant to some degree if we were talking about binge drinking, pot smoking or even joyriding in a stolen car. But if your adolescent impulses involve blowing up innocent civilians with home made bombs, there really isn't much that we can or want to do for you.

    Well said Tom.

Now watch the money that flows when the dust settles in Baltimore, my hometown, to rebuild the neighborhood that the neighborhood inhabitants burned down.

I love it when people complain about how many are gaming the system to steal billions from all the taxpayers. I never hear them talk about corporations who do exactly the same, oh wait that's legal because they can employ lobbyists and lawyers to pay off politicians and they get to write the laws that affect them. Oh wait again, but that's okay cause corporations employ a lot of folks and contribute to the economy so it's alright to steal in that case.

The next time I rob a bank I'll be sure to give most of the money away to charity. I'll be Robin Hood.

Crooks are crooks and there are people who make it an occupation of gaming every program that exists.

I agree things have gone down hill fast. I never let my kids out. The entitlement attitude is everywhere. American pride. Now it's all about shaming America or being punished for something you had nothing to do with, something that happened 150-200 years ago. Politicians who are not held accountable Our political standards have fallen. We knew there were always some bad ones but now it's difficult to find a good one.

It is a shame that the persons elected to deal with the problems are the cause of them!

    Only hope?

Girl finishes college and gets a real job and works for a living. Girl then gets wise and realizes the shameful error of her ways and dumps the deadbeat, marries a like minded ethical man and actually makes a contribution to society rather than simply draw from it........
