Bringing these into a reputable shop today

Running out of space, so it's probably going on my chest.

No, it's a DGE, made by DGErwin11, one of the moderators over at pipesmokersforum. He also does cob modifications, turns pens, and shave brushes. Here is a link to his store Store | DGE Handmade Pipes & Manly Things

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but make sure you see examples of the particular artist's work before you commit. Just because a guy has a chair in a tattoo shop, and a machine or two at his station, doesn't make him a tattooer. I've seen most people walk in and not even ask to see a portfolio, assuming if the 'artist' is there he must be competent. Isn't always the case.

What if you eventually decide that straight razor shaving isn't for you ? Or you quit pipe smoking? You might want to get it off your chest then, no? Even seasoned members and "honemeisters" sometimes throw in the towel and return to the electric shaver.

If I do quit, I'll have a good tattoo. I avoided this artist for years because I heard he was cocky. Now I rarely go elsewhere because he's the best I've seen. No matter what mood he's in, he always does good work. He's been tattooing for 44 years. Other shops in the area come to him for advice. I have too many cheap tattoos, some even done with a needle and thread. But something tells me this one is going to be something special. I chose the pipe because without breaking confidentiality, I can only say the pipe community helped me kick the bottle. I could drink a fifth so fast I wouldn't be drunk til I started on the second one. Then I'd blackout and I'd wake up to a gross mess in the morning having no clue what happened. I was no longer able to control myself so I don't touch it anymore, as much as I'd like to have just one drink... Then the straight razor represents overcoming fears. I've been trying to step out of my comfort zone the past couple years.

Trying to think who that might be. Lyle Tuttle hung it up some years ago, and I hear Ed Hardy isn't tattooing anymore, though he still has Tattoo City. I think Fred Corbin is dead, maybe, and I know Erno Szbady is. Gotta be Henry Goldfield .......

Ricky Rangoon at Only Skin Deep.
There is a lot of redness and swelling, so the photo isn't too good, but I'll have a better one in a few days...
