Canadian forest fire smoke
Hey yall.....
Here in Saskatchewan we are having a huge amount of forest fires....... Over 500+ this year compared to under 200 last year this time. The fires are in the northern part of the Saskatchewan (200+ miles north of me).... I know there are also forest fire in other areas too...... The smoke haze has been here since Monday..... Today was really bad for air quality. I heard that smoke from the Canadian forest fires' smoke has floated down to Tennessee..... Anyone south of Canada notice it? Just curious.Last edited by Willisf; 07-03-2015 at 05:30 AM.
Is it over there or over yonder?

Yeah, I noticed it earlier this week. The sky was been hazy and sun was a red ball. Also, light coming in the window cast a reddish tint on the floor.
Here is a pic from the U.S. National Weather Service showing the smoke plume. I think the picture was from Tues, June 30th.

Wow - didn't realize it was that massive a fire.
Reminds me of the days in the 70's, when I used to hear the US weather reports announcing, "Canadian cold front, moving in..."
And of course that old song by a great Canadian music group, The Band, "Acadian Driftwood", actually used that line...that smoke line looks about 1500 km's long and 500 km wide...massive. So much for the last 20 years of trying to reduce greenhouse emissions. One forest fire or volcanic eruption and all that work down the drain!

Thanked: 3228Yea, you can tell from this map Forest fires | Ontario.ca where all the rain has been falling in this province. Been a bad year for forest fires from Northwestern Ontario west to BC. The fire crews have their work cut out for them for sure.
