Default Burn out with weather warnings...

Another night of OMG you better hide in the basement [and listen to our station!] because the world is going to end.

Does anyone else feel that they have been desensitized to these warnings so much that if it is a true one that they would ignore it?

I just came in from sitting o the font porch. A few thunder boomers and a little spray from the screens to the west.

    Very anticlimactic!

I just watch the radar. If it is color coded and purple, then it is time to put your head between your knees and....

It's the same thing about all things in our lives today , so many warnings , and when it comes to weather , after some of the tornadoes that have touched down in major cities their leaning towards being over cautious ,, places like Oklahoma and Texas kinda get used to them , but look at the ones that hit Alabama a couple years ago and the one that took out Joplin mo. These weather men are only right 50%of the time so may as well just warn us to hide and be wrong than not ,, it is a pain ,, but I like you just watch the radar and most times sit outside on the patio and watch it myself. The only job that i know that you still get paid for being wrong.
If i do my job wrong. I do it again for free ( flat rate ).
We've all been around long enough to know what bad weather is.
But for severe weather i agree with TC.
Watch the radar, much more reliable than the weather man.

Meteorology is "the physics of the atmosphere", an abstract science. Weather forecasting is just a side job to that but the one that gets them all their money for grants and such.

Forecasting the weather is more art than science and technology simply can't tell what many weather systems can do there are just too many variables. The fact they are correct as often as they are is really great.

Maybe some day that will change but for now it's beyond our abilities.

Work in Oklahoma and west Texas enough and you learn to feel when the tornados are around, that said Gary England over out of OKC is one of the best and he is still off as much as he's on , but yes it's a tough job ,, here in memphis we had a guy who came to the station a punched the weatherman in the mouth cause of his predictions ,, Guy was a farmer trying to time his harvest ,, made the news for a couple days. Funny stuff. Tc

Well at least you get some warning in the form of weather reports or your own Visual.
Now here in Kali we have earthquakes,The only warning we get is when the entire house starts to rattle and the dishes come flying out of the cupboards spookey stuff.

They have a big heat wave warning in effect here in Toronto, I was just out and about, at the gym, was very hot, personally, when I grew up and it was like this, we called it, "summer".

In these parts this time of the year if the temp is less than 3 digits we call it a cold wave. I wonder what they did before A/C and fans-har har I know what they did cause I grew up in NYC with 90+ and 70% humidity and we didn't get our first fans until I was about 5 years old. The only place with A/C was the movie theater. We'd go there and just sit there all day and watch the same movie over and over.

We didn't need weather forecasters. You already knew what the weather was-hot and humid.
