Really cool. Obviously a skilled craftsman.

Why is it hard to get coal in Canada?

    Do you know this fellow?

I don't think it is too hard to get coal in Canada but I think what he wanted was Anthracite coal which is not currently mined in Canada but there are deposits of it in northern BC and the Yukon, Coal - Air - Environment Canada .

Yea, he sure knows what he is doing. Sweet looking steam launch.

No, don't know him. He worked in the News Mill and I worked in the Kraft Mill next door.

Oh! By reading the title, I thought CelticCrusader had obtained another pristine razor!

He did a nice job, it would seem, on that boat. It reminds me of the 'African Queen'!

I'm sure if our Jamie were to build a boat it would be a classic too. Yea, African Queen popped into my mind to when I first saw it.

He doesn't need anthracite he just wants it because it burns hotter. It's kind of like using premium fuel in a higher performance car. Regular will run but premium runs better. Anthracite is a pita to use because it takes a lot of heat to get it going.

I believe he also wants anthracite because it contains less sulfur so the stack gasses aren't so noxious.

Additionally, anthracite burns much cleaner (0-1 Ringelmann) in terms of smoke density than does bituminous coal (2-4 Ringelmann).

Nerd Fact of the Day: The scale for quantifying smoke density (from 0, totally clear, to 5, no light transmittance) is the Ringelmann Scale...
