Thanked: 3A personal message (with the admin's permission, I hope)
Just a short note, with apologies for taking up some bandwidth. I was banned from Shave My Face (for reasons that are beyond the scope of this message).
I would like to alert anyone who is trying to send me Private Messages from Shave My Face that I cannot receive them (and cannot reply to them). If someone needs to contact me, please do so by email at [email protected] or [email protected]
Thanks, (and thanks to the admins)
Giovanni

Thanked: 9I for one am interested to understand what happened - while I am not too active on many forums, I am interested in online codes of behaviour, censorship, etc.
So if possible - I'd like to get a link of the discussion that led to this unfortunate event (I say unfortunate because I somehow think grown up civilised men should not get to the point of such an extreme measure)
Cheers

Thanked: 3I welcome that.
As far as I can tell this is what I believe happened: (Incidentally, I was not given an explanation for the ban.)
About a week ago, I was reprimanded by one of the admins for posting a reply to a question by a poster. The question was: Is there a website that sells different types of double edge blades?
I made the mistake of posting a reply, saying that my website, Barbieria Italiana, offered several different types of blades.
My post was quickly removed and I was given a warning that more such posts would result in my being banned.
I apologized (sincerely): I had contravened the rules, in my post and I did regret that fact and promised not to repeat the offense. Previously, I had posted a message showing a fountain pen and asking people interested in winning such pen to email me. No mention of the details nor of the website. I followed the guidelines I had previously been given by one of the admins. The post was removed. I guess the admins give different interpretations of the guidelines, or perhaps the rules have changed. That's OK. I understand and accept this.
A couple of days later I posted the picture of an odd travel razor, mentioning that I had written an article on vintage travel razors and giving the direct link to the article. This was not a commercial post, since the article has to do with vintage razors.
The post was pulled and the next time I tried to log on, I received a message advising me of the ban.
That's my recollection of the events. If I am mistaken, I am sorry. I am looking forward to comments by the SMF admins.
Thanks to SRP for providing this opportunity.
As for providing a link, I can't do that, since I cannot acces the SMF website.

Thanked: 9Thank you for the explanation, Giobanni.
I think you'd have no problems like this here

Well that won't be a problem here. Part of the beauty of this community is that it gathers knowledge, experience and craftsmen (and a craftswoman )
I think this site would suffer if we lost the ability to buy / sell stuff and offer services. Btw, it is also allowed to talk about current ebay auctions.
We like to help each other.

I'm not a memeber at SMF but I do know that some forums are run as revenue producers for the owners and many time these forums have very strict rules about what can be posted because they don't want to upset their paying sponsors and kill their golden goose so to speak. I don't know if that is what happened in this case or not but its a possibility.

Thanked: 1I'm not a SMF member either and I can't speak fairly to this particular issue. What I can say is that I've never seen a problem like that here, for which I'm grateful. Also, Giovanni, I think you've been nothing but a good contributor and asset to SRP so SMF's loss is our gain

In our case, advertising revenue is just used to keep the forum up and running. We actually welcome members like yourself who also offer valuable products and services in addition to contributions to our fund of knowledge.
