Are there any other electricians here?
Hey folks,
I'm a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 531. I was wondering if there were any other electricians using this site. Let me know.
Thanks,
Masher

I do electrical work and diagnosis as a big part of my business repairing food service equipment but I am not trained per say to be a professional electrician.

Thanked: 4Yes mate here
I am proud to have served my time at Gladstone Power Station in Queensland Australia 1988-92... been a union member ever since.
It's not a bad trade to have, as far as engineering trades go... it's taken me all round the country on heavy construction and five years in Asia and the Middle East on commissioning power plant.
More recently I've been studying for an engineering degree (externally) through USQ while working as a power plant operator (just like Homer Simpson) back in Queensland.
Welcome to the trade... we're now brothers.

Thanked: 13I know it's different, but I'm an Electronic Engineer. I know the two are very different (don't get me started ranting about that), but just thought I'd post anyways.

Yup one here too
I am a qualified electrician from Scotland but I ended up drilling for oil in the North sea on a semi-submersible drilling rig for 11 years
However I am now back sparkying in a plant that constructs on and off frame modular homes, and I love it...

Was a nuclear power plant operator/plant electrician in the Navy. Now I direct the generation for a utility (eastern Wisconsin and a large portion of the upper peninsula of Michigan). Gotta love directing and selling those electrons!

Mechanical engineer by background here, but 90% of what I do is design critical electrical systems. Occasionally, I pull wire for my father-in-law, a master elctrician for small new construction and rehab residential work. Close enough?
