None other than King Camp Gillette.
Just think what we owe him
As a matter of fact what do YOU owe him?No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 4827I think nothing. I am pretty happy with the single edge wedge type razor and straight razors. It would not break my heart if we had never gotten past that point in development. Everyone has to try to build a better mouse trap though, and through marketing he certainly has done very well, and not just for his gratin either.

Actually old King died a poor man. He kept inventing new things and put the profits from the last venture into the next and won and lost fortunes in his life. He really did die almost penniless.

Thanked: 4827Now there is some interesting factoids. I had always presumed that the founder of the Gllette empire wound have left generations of trustafarians. Cool though that he was so into inventing that it kept him going and that it was not about the money, or so it appears.

I owe him a bit.. can't deny safety razors provide comfortable shaves no matter how much I love the straight razor. My gilette super speed holds a spot in my den and isn't leaving any time soon.
