I am an electrician by trade but currently commission locomotives that will eventually run autonomously.
Retired network engineer (first career) and Harley-Davidson Master Tech (second career).
I have started a new chapter and have been a stay at home dad for the past 4 months. It's been great spending time with my boys ands supporting my wife. However, it has raised some other challenges. Prior to this I was a federal employee working on submarines. Prior to that I was active duty on subs. To many small and part time jobs over the years to list.
This one's a bit small still, but I'll let you know when it starts its Ivy League education in a few weeks.

Great pic!
Are those individual cells?
The cluster in the middle is a lot of cells, not just one. The projections coming out of the cluster are neurites--long projections that could develop into axons and dendrites, which are the very thin elongations of neuronal cells that serve as the chemical communication "wires" of the nervous system. Just as a network of many small computers has a much greater capacity compared to a single large one, it is the interconnection of millions of nerve cells that make you wicked smart.
I can tell the conversation in Texas will be a lot of fun when your talking to me. I only know how to drill holes and drink beer Ron. Tc

In short, I do all sorts of nasty things to you while you're asleep and tied down to my table...
Yep, I know his holes were in dirt. I dug a lot of fence post holes as a kid and am still blocking out the memory.
All together I've made enough hole for all the fence post on the planet, tryed to figure it out one time and it got around do the world once. And run , I can't drill a hole n wood at all! Too small a bit! Tc
Wow.
If you could drill one more hole, I'd appreciate it if you could find some oil for me in my back yard. That whole PowerBall thing did not work out for me.
Well we,ll need a a lot of help turning the bit with your shopsmith to get deep enough
Secondary science teacher.
I process radioactive waste.
No, I don't glow in the dark.

Was in the Army (Infantryman) for a couple of years, then did fifteen years in the Navy (Boatswain's Mate).
Got out, went to college, got a degree in Chemistry and went to work as an organic (synthesis) chemist making, purifying, analyzing and testing reagents for DNA synthesis.
Now semi-retired into chemical consulting specializing in organic synthesis, analytics design, DNA/phosphoramidite chemistry, and GMP lab ops.
Now that your not coming Mike, who is Ron going to talk to hummmm? My head might have exploded with the both of you,, sheesshh. Tc
Roy that will be my big trip for the year unless I go to the Denver meet ,, then it,ll be a small trip right after the Denver meet!!! Gives you enough time to stock up on the beer. Tc
TC, my time in the military, supported by years of hard drinking (on the wagon now for a couple of years) have rendered me a complete knuckle dragger. As a physical scientist I'm an anomaly. If you saw me, you'd definitely assume I'd just stumbled out of the nearest tavern/tattoo parlor. Poor Ron probably shakes his head at the idea of me engaged in DNA chemistry.
You could talk about making deep holes and I could talk about underway replenishment or digging defensive fighting positions. And just between you and me, I'd bet Ron has done some knuckle dragging somewhere in his cobweb cloaked past ;)
Mike we could talk military , but my time was so far back I might remember differently, like. Was Audie Murphy or something, but a knuckle dragged I am, so we would get along , heck I,nam coming out of a tavern and a tattoo parlor every now and then a few years back,, as to Ron, I,m not sure! Lol, man Dave that was a good hole. Over the years I was slated for depths like that , sometimes they just stop you, or they put the well on hold due to the price of oil going down and you go to somewhere else. And Ron they do "TwistOff" and then get "Runn Oft". Tc
Not your average Home Depot associate. I went to Home Depot and got a job to crawl out of the mess a divorce will leave you in. When everybody wants in your wallet the best way to get them off your back is not have a wallet :<0) I am having a lot of fun there though and learning even more about handy man type work. I don't wear an apron which is unusual for anybody that works for HD. If a manager wants an office remodel they call me. Here is one I just finished.

Now that that is all in the past I am looking around for something fun again. I had a backhoe rental business for 20 some years and a contractors lic. for paving and grading. I have had a lot of different jobs in the construction industry and can build just about anything. Took 6 years of drafting classes, ummm learned a little programming , I love making 3D models and animation. I had a small ranch and know how to grow my own food and a lot about raising animals.
This hobby with straights is been a blast and I am thinking about building a shop and maybe making a small business doing that.
I just don't know at this point. I want to get the heck out of California and if it wasn't winter I might be moving into your neighborhood right now. I feel like I am 21 again only with the right brain doing the thinking this time. I can drink and do what ever I want and I am broke :<0) I also have no desire to retire. If that works for you great but from what I have seen that's when you start to rust.
The world is mine and I don't know what to do with it !
I toolmaker, razors my hobby.:chapeau
Freelance film and television producer. Currently on Discovery's Naked & Afraid. Probably will be for the rest of the year as the show is doing well. I like them because they don't mind when I show up late because I was shaving.
