At this point, every politician is a product of the media. Some just are better at it than others.

I tell you what if Sanders wasn't a socialist he would beat Clinton hands down.:soapbox:
There's been a lot of writing on this recently because it's a rather unusual candidacy.
He isn't representing any of the major party factions (evangelicals, 'tea party', libertarian, moderate, and 'establishment'). As far as I can tell he's primarily a populist running against the party orthodoxy (anti-immigration, protectionism). There's a relatively large constituency that used to be in the democratic party but has moved in the republican which wants that but until now hasn't had the power or the representation. They don't care much about 'small government', or 'the culture wars' - they want a government that prioritizes their values.
So far the vote for Trump has been around 35% and 65% for others. As other candidates drop some of their vote may or may not go to Trump and people argue that their preferred result is what is going to happen. But from now on most contests are winner take all (states vote on different days from february to may or june), so even with plurality when the vote is split among several candidates Trump may still win enough delegates to secure the nomination as the presidential candidate of the republican party.
And then comes the general election for the actual job when all states vote on the same day and virtually all are winner take all. If the republican party cannot mobilize behind their official nominee they will lose. If they can, they have a chance to win. If the economy tanks by then they will most likely win no matter who they nominate.
But if Trump becomes president he will be the head of the republican party and will be representing both the party and the USA.
The hateful Rhetoric from Trump has to stop it has created a toxic environment:
"I don't want to quell anger, I think people have a right to be angry, I am angry too"
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun, because I understand the people of Philly like a good brawl"
"I know the Special Interest Groups and Lobbyists, are getting ready for a fight, and my message to them is "So am I""
Oh wait I messed up, those quotes are not from Trump, those are from Barack Hussein Obama :p
So Sorry for the confusion :)
Recent polls show Clinton beating Trump by a spread of +6.3, Cruz and Rubio beating Clinton by +0.8 and +4.0 respectively. Kasich beats Clinton +7.4
Too bad if the GOP picked the wrong horse.
And if Sanders gets the Dem nomination, the polls have him beating all the GOP candidates:
Trump by +10
Cruz by +9.7
Rubio by 3.3
Kasich by only +0.5
We had our primary earlier in the week. The apathy was rampant, although the political pukes had filled up my machine's tape, again, before noon on election day (I was voter # 57 around halfway through voting hours). Here you don't have to be a registered whatever, so you could chose on the spot whichever rich, fat & pandering New Yorker you wanted to vote against. Unless the hoi polloi wake up, this will be the saddest election year for the Elephant since 1964.
I'm still thinking Trump is taking money from Billary, the White House is likely too gauche for the Donald, and anyway alot of the good furnishings got swiped in January 2001 .. Besides, it (being Prez) might resemble work more than being on a Reality (really) show on the Idiot Box, or speculating with daddy's money.
I can't wait for November 2nd, when all the actors will be on private jets headed someplace warm, we can only wish them to be one way jaunts to a particular place that's really warm ... and hope that this too shall pass
:soapbox:
Agree but really thats only Manhattan. Most New Yorkers including myself are not. If you are ever in trouble a New Yorker would help you. While other people riot New yorkers don't. No school shootings in NY.. I am always amazed at the kindness and generosity of New Yorkers. I was born in the city, live in the suburbs and work for N.Y.C. . I am proud to be part of NY.

Here are some thoughts to throw out there as completely wacky as they sound:
All signs are pointing to a Republican Convention in which it's possible that the Republican "establishment" could chose a candidate who is neither Trump nor Cruz. A candidate not "chosen by the people". One could argue doing so would be political suicide for the Republican party in this election and secure an election for Clinton and as a result is therefore unlikely. I beg to differ.
The Republican "establishment" would much rather "work across the aisle" with their establishment Democrat counterparts in the Old Boys Club than contend with a rogue Trump or Cruz president. A Clinton presidency would be business as usual for the establishment. Throwing the election by selecting a candidate different than Trump or Cruz it could be argued, would benefit the Republican establishment more than a Trump or Cruz presidency would.
I won't go as far as to say the U.S. could be at a watershed moment in history where the two party system may end up disintegrating into, in effect, a one party state if the Republican establishment declares in its action of siding with Democrats by handing Clinton the presidency, but the outcome of the convention will be interesting.
I have thought that throwing the election isn't probable for the Republican establishment because it could mean political suicide for each Republican senator or congressman at the end of each individual's term; perhaps or perhaps not.

Maybe McCain and Palin will get thrown back into the mix!
Then again, how is Bob Dole doing?
Here's my candidate. Better than what we have and what is running....

Finally
Today as Kasich seems to be dropping out also after Cruz,,, it looks as though Trump is actually the Presumptive Republican Nominee
Now we shall see what comes out of the Sanders -vs- Clinton "Battle"
Sanders doesn't have a chance to catch up. I'm in the "anyone but Hillary" camp.
Well I remain silent other than saying, PASS THE CHERRY COLA AND JUJU BEES!
Says it all....

"Make America Sane Again"
Finally we may have a chance to get the truth about who killed JFK, area 51, and how B. Hussein Obama faked his birth certificate :)
He'll probably be kicked out of the country for being muslim too!
I wish the FBI would hurry up and indict Billary already!
Who would vote for her anyway, with her history of corruption and investigations?
A misinformed fool?
Would a person hire another person who under suspicion of a crime?
Heck NO!!!
And she wants to be president ?!?!?!?
:rofl2:
Glad I am not voting in the US elections.
(These are just my opinion...and in no way reflect or are endorsed by this website)
Here would be my vote for President if I could put anyone in that this world has in it. It is a shame he is not of this country but I have more faith in this man than our, well, I use this term loosely, politicians!

Even at her worst, Clinton is a thousand times better than the tangerine-haired joke the Republicans are about to nominate.
I am disappointed that Frances Perkins was not chosen to be on the new $20.00 bill.
Who's running for president?
I am so, so tired of facing yet another none of the above ballots.
Yes, I wish that was an option on the ballots up here at times. The only alternatives seem to be not voting or spoiling the ballot. They don't care if you don't vote and nobody keeps track of spoilt ballots either because they don't count for the outcome. Makes it impossible to show your dissatisfaction with the system in a meaningful way.

As many have noted before me, Hillary is actually more Republican than Trump (look up her record, ignore what she says). In any event, the Republicans roundly rejected the one guy who could beat her according to the polls (Kasich).
Of the two presumptive nominees, I just want to hang my head and cry-is this really the best we can do? But barring possible indictment, she will most likely trounce The Donald in the general, and he will cause widespread down-ballot damage, as many Republicans appear to be abandoning ship in favor of Clinton.
In any event, as bad as Hillary is, an unlikely Trump presidency would be an unmitigated disaster for us both domestically and abroad, and might even spell the end of the Republican party as we know it; it has already split seemingly irrevocably between the base and the establishment. At least one splinter party seems likely at this point.
Of course on the other side, the seething revolution Bernie Sanders has tapped into among millenials and other disaffected groups is causing a similar, but slower split among Democrats between the Clinton "third way" politics of triangulation and liberal progressives, so a reckoning is brewing there too.
And finally, most of the pundits' predictions for this unprecedented election season have almost all been dead wrong. Still, I am predicting absolute chaos in Cleveland this summer at the Republican convention. If there are not actual fistfights and violence on the floor inside (which seems likely even though a contested nomination is no longer a threat, and I think the establishment won't dare try any backroom deals (probably)), there will almost certainly be protests and violence outside. You may recall that when this happened in Chicago in '68, Nixon was able to capitalize on the fears of the "Silent Majority" and win the election, and finish the process LBJ's civil rights legislation had started of flipping the South to the Republicans. So there is a chance he could win, and then God help us.
People are kidding themselves if they think the president of the USA is running any of the show.
We have an inexperienced community organizer that has coasted through 8 yrs, while someone else pushed an agenda, and those someone's are both parties in Congress.
Example. "We have to pass it to read it." None read it before it was passed, and I really didn't see a big push to stop it. Just a lot of lip service.
