HIstorical Military Records unlocked
Good Morning Gentlemen,
I think there may be a few genealogy buffs here. Over the course of the last year, Ancestry dot com has gathered military records at least as far back as the revolutionary war, and I "heard" even Jamestown....but I couldn't find that. All this information has been gathered and is now available on their site.
Typically they have generic information open to the public, and all the good stuff is locked and you have to be a member to have access, but because this is Memorial Day Weekend....and in honour of all of our Service Men & Women. This information is unlocked and OPEN to ANYONE thru JUNE 6th.
I took a look this morning.....you'll find it under "Military Collection"...and they have everything from old photographs, enlistment records and even diaries kept by some of the Soldiers. Some really interesting stuff, you should take a look.
www.ancestry.com Here is the link.....happy hunting.
and a Big "Thank You" to all our Service Men & Women out there!
XXWarm Regards, Colleen

Thanks for the link and the heads-up, Colleen - I had read about the records being available a while back, but as you noted, they were in the pay section.....
....I'm going to go check it out right now!
