    Default Rhubarb pie

OK looking at another thread gave me the idea for this one!
    1) do you prefer your rhubarb pie with or without strawberries?
    2) what is your favorite pie?
This is easy for me! Rhubarb pie should never be adulterated with strawberries and my favorite pie is rhubarb! I make a couple every year when rhubarb is in season.

I don't think I've ever had rhubarb pie without strawberries but if I ever come across it I'll definitely give it a try. I think my favorite pie is my dads key lime. He doesn't make the creamy custardy kind most folks are familiar with. He does it like a lemon meringue on a home made grahm cracker crust. Very tasty. That key lime tree I bought my parents one year was a very good investment.

Rhurbarb is good but give me a slice of Pecan pie anyday. Shoo-fly and Snitz pies are also favorites if home made.

I mean, call me an idiot, but if it has strawberries in it, isn't it a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie? Every rhubarb pie I've ever had had rhubarb - that's it - no berries, just rhubarb and a lot of sugar and other pie stuff, but no other fruit.

    I've also had Strawberry-Rhubarb pies.

Loved 'em both....'specially with home made ice-cream....after ribs barbecued on a hickory fire....with corn......and beer.....

I'll be right back....I've gotta go to the store!

Most rhubarb pies I've seen are the strawberry-rhubarb mix which is quite nice and I'll have a slice please, thank-you very much. My sister-in-law who is also a very good baker, better than I, makes a yummy rhubarb pie, just rhubarb and I'd like two slices if you can spare them. Nobody wanted that last slice did they? I'll split it with you.

PS I like apple pie too. ... actually just about any pie ... except cherry pie ... cherries are best just as they are.

    Lou,
Shoo-fly and Snitz are Amish favorites. Shoo-fly being heavy sweet molasass and crumbs. The name supposedly came from it's extreme swetness attracting flies as they sat on a windowsill cooling. Snitz is basically dried apples, apple sauce and apple butter with cinamon blended into a loose filling. Great stuff.

I think the whole Strawberry thing was to reduce the tartness of the Rhubarb instead of all sugar.
