Merle was a big hit back in the day. I clearly remember dragging my mom into the music store for a Merle Haggard song book.
I would bet most of his life was pretty rough, but he lived a good long time. Broken mold, won't be any more like him.
RIP"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I was raised on Country Western music..... I wasn't a fan of it as a child. When I hear the older songs play....funny how I know most of the words. I don't mind any of the older stuff now.
RIP Merle! A true legend in music!
Is it over there or over yonder?

Thanked: 250I think "Mama Tried" had to be my theme song in high school. I was always in the warden's, I mean, the principle's office. Detention, I mean hard labor, for me was chipping ice off the school sidewalks in sub zero weather with a garden hoe.
