    Default Interesting new US warship

Just read this article US Navy poised to take ownership of its largest warship . As usual the headline gets it all balled up. It is not the largest US warship by a long shot. The ship's design and capabilities are very interesting as is the Captain's name, James Kirk. Somehow fitting for such an advanced ship and kind of funny at the same time. Makes you wonder if whomever made the selection for Captain had a sense of humour.

Largest Destroyer at 610'. Hopefully all the testing to come will produce excellent results.
Very interesting technology and design. Can't miss with James Kirk as the Captain.

Thanks for posting that article Bob.

The design sure is a little jarring to the eye when you are used one of our old DDHs.

If I wanted to be a naval captain, I would totally change my name to James T Kirk before signing up...

I've been reading some on Zumwalt. Very interesting design. It's obvious that the shape has some advantages.

Although not the same size but the shape reminds a bit of Swedish Visby-class corvettes. Not so unusual sight here as our navies have a lot of joint operations and teamworks etc these days.

I guess that is the best match up they could do since the USS Enterprise was taken out of service in 2012. Pity that.
