The Pulse Shooting

In a situation like this, there are so many different things working in harmony that resulted in this incident. Many people usually focus on one reason as the decisive factor resulting in the shooting.

The mainstream media is easily culpable in driving emotional stories. However, it's an unfortunate fact of life that major incidents sell media. It's not identical, I know, but there's a reason you can see so many paper headlines about the Titanic, or WWII, or the Hindenburg...

As people we love scapegoats. Nazis, drug cartels, communists, terrorists, it's always something. Someone will always find someone to "villainize".

We are a country of 300+ million people, to expect that there aren't any wackjobs in that many people is ridiculous. Its just bound to happen. These people need help, one way or another. I cannot offer a satisfactory solution, but something has to be done. These people, whether we like it or not, are our countrymen and we help each other stand together.

Gun control is touchy, but people with truly evil intent do not need to buy firearm. I do not agree with all aspects of our current firearm situation, but just going whole-hog into this aspect of the situation is not a silver bullet.

Many people dislike/distrust our gov't. I didn't go into gov't because the opportunities available sounded like a crap job with crap pay. These weren't washing windows jobs either. There's a reason all the people that should be in positions of power will not run. They can get more money doing something else. You can be a CEO of $10-$30 million company and earn near enough to the president. So, the only people who want to go into government either have no choice or want power for power's sake. Not to mention the difficult balancing act of dealing with rock-headed politicians who all view that they are correct all the time. 535 of them. I don't think we could even get 535 of us to agree on anything. (tape or no tape)

Additionally, everyone is so absorbed by what's happening in their phones that they have zero situational awareness. Or care about anyone in their vicinity. Some people are getting better, while others are crashing their cars to check their tweets.

Love it or hate it, our country is what it is. Time to get back to work and earn myself some more money for my acquisition disorders.

When you want to push your own political agenda, it's really easy to MANIPULATE STATISTICS to show whatever you want and to blame whomever you want. In this case, all of these mass shootings are Obama's fault. There is not logic in it, but if dozens of authors pretending to write the same article spout the same tweaked statistics, then you can flood the internet with whatever "fact" you want.

Maybe outgunned for sure, but at least with more of a chance to survive than the other unarmed poor souls. Their only option would have been to die.

Probably not because you they guy with the "little Gun" if you didn't get him really fast would be the target of his.

But just think while he's in a gun battle with you others will have a chance to escape.

No one, unless they have been in a critical situation knows how they will react and if they think they do they ain't got a clue. When the situation arises you are being tested and that's when you find out for sure.


Everyone says and hopes they would react positively and you know if you are in a situation like that laying down is the worst thing to do. It's movement and distance that will save your life. Most folks, even guys who consider themselves marksmen can't hit the broad side of a barn if the target is moving.

At any rate my point here is for the average human the typical first response is panic and and an inability to move or think or move the wrong way. No different than a herd of animals being chased by a big cat.

For sure, but............................if one is armed.........you have a chance! So........let me understand what you mean. Because you may not react well enough to save your life, you should not carry a weapon to possibly protect yourself and save your live and/or others?

I am afraid we are nurturing a society that is being taught that we are not capable or able to protect ourselves and that we should defer to the powers that be, to protect us and take care of us. See food stamps and housing subsistence, free Obummer phones, Obummercare. That worked out well for the indians. Did it not?

Speaking of Indians... The media is labeling this as the greatest mass shooting in U.S. History. The Wounded Knee Massacre occurred on December 29, 1890, near Wounded Knee Creek on the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the U.S. state of South Dakota. By the time it was over, more than 150 men, women, and children of the Lakota had been killed and 51 were wounded (4 men and 47 women and children, some of whom died later); some estimates placed the number of dead at 300. I heard Hillary Clinton today say today that the U.S. Gov would not betray Muslim Americans. The U.S. gov disarmed the Lakota's and them murdered them.

Those that believe there is a conspiracy to destroy the country are a very small group. The larger portion of the population DO believe that our current government is not looking out for our best interests. Look at all the polls if you do not believe this to be true. Our politicians seem to get richer the longer they are in office! Why is this so? I can't be the only one to see this! God help us all!

Governmental policies such as creating, "Gun Free Zones", took away law abiding citizens the right and ability to protect themselves. Prayers for all of them and their families!

You know, this really brings up a harsh and unfortunate reality. Most Americans have no clue what to do if there is an active shooter present and they become statistics. I can tell you from experience, that most terrorists start training the young from an early stage how to handle weapons and tactics that inflict the most casualties. To them it is just second nature. To us it's unthinkable. I think it's time America wakes up!!!
It's not all nice and politically correct as so many people want it to be. Train people what to look for and how to react. Let's stop thus nonsense from happening! The police force needs a lot of additional training as well. They do not know how to react or handle such events.

Until around 1924 Native Americans were not universally U.S Citizens depending on when they were born, around the Civil war time as I recall and S Dakota was not a state.

That is true. But it is also true that BECAUSE they were in an Indian Reservation, they should have been afforded the PROTECTION of the United States Government. Instead, they were murdered! The government is supposed to protect its citizens and/or chattel! Whose interests were they protecting then? The people's, or the government's?
