R.I.P. Bagmaster
My favorite way to store and carry handguns/rifles is with the USA made Bagmaster products. So having acquired an AR 15 I went to order a Deluxe Tactical Weapons Case 35" and found out they are no longer active. They still have a website, but no one answers the phone, or email, and vendors that used to carry their products are out of stock on just about everything.
This is a shame. It seems that sooner than later everything we buy will be from China, or some other Asian country where wages are low, job conditions are poor, and the entrepreneur charges the consumer the same $ as the USA made product would have cost, or nearly so. Largely due to the politicians of both parties selling the American worker down the river. Pretty soon flipping burgers or clerking at walmart or home depot will be about the only career choices for the majority of Americans.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Duluth Pack and Frost River make canvas and leather cases for firearms. I think all of the canvas items sold by each company are made in the U.S. They are kind of pricey, especially the all leather cases.

Thanked: 498Oh geeze Jimmy I first saw your title R.I.P. Bagmaster I momentarily thought Bagmaster was a forum member.
Now that I read further I'm still saddened since I have several articles of Bagmaster and loved there gear.

Jimmy:
All we need to do is live another hundred years or so (possibly less). By that time China and the other cheap labor countries will have risen to global middle class status with the U.S. falling to poverty level and our progeny being forced to work until they drop just to eat. Made In China today = low priced low quality crap. Made in USA in a few generations = low priced low quality crap? I certainly hope not, but it seems that's where we're headed.
I like to think of myself as not being materialistic. I try to minimize buying stuff unless I really need it. I buy made in USA whenever I can. Diamond Gusset jeans, for example. I bought a Filson double mackinaw coat about fifteen years ago (long before Filson started catering to the hipster and lumbersexual crowd). Quality costs more. To me it's worth it.
Part of it for me with China is that I was raised in an age when communist governments were considered the enemy and blindly thinking that the China of today isn't just as bent on taking over the world as it was back in the day would have been regarded back then as simple minded, naive and clueless. I regard my level of continued mistrust of communist governments as part of being patriotic. I'm very proud of it and very proud of freedom. As such, like you, I cringe and get a sick feeling on the occasions when sadly I feel I don't have a choice but to buy particular items.......made in China.
