A Sad Day
My heart goes out to the families of law enforcement officers everywhere. What a world it has become. Last days.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Would that more persons really understood the facts! God bless those who fell and the rest of them in the line of fire too!

Thanked: 3215Sad, but not surprising given that a convicted terrorist of similar crimes and motivation in the 70’s, is the friend, mentor and advisor to our current president and an is still, an active participant/organizer in the anti-police, anarchy movement.
“Americans should feel outraged at episodes of police brutality since they're rooted in long-simmering racial discord.”
When the president condemns police officers, (for shooting an armed man who is clearly on video, resisting arrest and reaching for a hand gun), before all the facts are known, he only divides the nation further and highlights the targets on police officers backs.
I doubt any cops take comfort, in that the Justice Department and the FBI will investigate the possibility of an organized plot against law enforcement in this country.
This, sadly, is the Obama legacy.

This is the legacy when an officer doing his job is instantly surrounded by a mob with cameras instantly posted to on line social media showing an incomplete record of events followed by a rush to judgement.

Thanked: 3795Isn't it great that we can blame all of the ills of modern society, all of the racial tensions, all of the violence, all of the problems in the middle east, all of the economic problems, and anything else we can think of on just a single person? I find that to be very convenient. It saves me a lot of time trying to put any deeper thought into it.

Thanked: 98I miss the "Peace Officers" that were American City police, they were helpful and respected, even liked, Across our country. since Militarizing, the public now dislikes most cops.
What have cops done for me? written me tickets, accused and harassed, trying to dig out a crime where there was None.
The loss of those officers lives is sad and the Attitude of most officers toward the public is Sad too, All of us have watched these changes occur over the years.

My Grandfather was Washington State Game Protector. His badge number was #32 and I was raised to respect law enforcement officers regardless of their duties. When my kids were young I also taught them to respect law enforcement officers, in fact I taught them to wave at the officers whether in a vehicle or on foot. 99% of the time the officers not only waved back but had a big smile on their faces.
A certain Washington State Patrol Trooper wrote me 3 tickets, I deserved them and I still consider him a friend.
Many years ago when it was still legal to have random roadblocks to check to see if the drivers had a driver's license insurance etc I was on my way to the hospital where my wife was in labor with our only child. I was about 5 cars back and I saw the above mentioned Trooper, I got out of my car and called his name, he walked to my car and I told him the situation and he yelled at the other officers to let me through.
Some day I'll tell the tale of the first time we meet, it really set the stage for a good friendship. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

I was a small town COP in the Mayberry RFD days. Politics were there and then also. But, the respect was to the officer on duty. In the court there were lawyers told to sit down and shut up. Cops have saved many lives of personal friends and acquaintances...and the few times I got caught, they had me cold!
Funny thing...or sad: Our politicians are all lawyers. Lawyers are taught to argue regardless of merits of the client or case. Now they argue for inter fraternity browny points and to hell with the country... as long as they have full pay for the rest of their lives.Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
