Really too bad you are not in a Cannabis legal state. As BigSpenDur says, avoid the drugs. I'm a BP II and finally off Rx medications and only on what's legally available in WA. I'm pretty much retired but for some P-T work in my post-unemployment future...likely getting that mid-nightly paid workout at UPS again. 20 hrs per week and better benefits than most any corporation in the country thanks to Teamsters!!
Going back to Ambian. When I had a really serious bout of depression and insomnia combined, I was in a very deep, dark place. I still cannot believe I survived that nearly 4.5 year period. All thanks to this gawdawful drug called GEODON! Evil shit makes you sleep 15+ hrs per day, and if not, like say you working for a living like me, then every day you want to die. Die quickly!
I moved a friend in and her daughter to keep me from going into the garage for one last time.--Mark

Thanked: 39I wish I could, I used to have 2 jobs and making house payments when I lived in the ATL (1996 to 2008). In 1992 I had 2 steel rods implanted into my spine because of a double curve scoliosis, didn't hurt me at all while I was framing, painting, roofing houses or delivering car parts for a car dealership. Then 2008 hit and I lost both jobs and my house, chapter 7 and I'm back a home, no luck finding jobs because of my back, which started hurting bad 3 years ago, 5 lower vertbra went to hell and now I'm on the "patch" "the pills" tore my guts up after a while so I can't take them anymore. I may be headed for another operation. Now just pulling weeds in the flower bed or maintaining my garden flares it up and the patches can't catch up. buying and shaving with straight razors is my only hobby now, I used to shoot flintlock rifles for fun but now the recoil hurts to much.

Thanked: 39Btw, this forum has been very nice I've learned a lot about straights since I've joined. Rad is tough on a strict budget., Maybe that's why I go for the $30.00 and under razors. I'm almost always trying to bid down a "Buy It Now" price.

Good choice on having the friend and her daughter keeping an eye on you. I am glad the Geodon helped you through that period, and you are off it now, it is a heavy duty anti-psychotic among other things and has a side effect that can be deadly.
Hope the UPS deal works out for you. Remember to just take things one day at a time and to be here now at any time.
Best of luck to you.Bob

Thanked: 351I've begun having my own trials and tribulations with sleep or lack thereof.
I listen to a podcast by the name of "Security Now" with Steve Gibson of Spinrite fame. While he's not a doctor, he is quite intelligent and has been suffering from poor sleep as he ages. His research into the subject can be found here: https://www.grc.com/health/sleep/hea...ep_formula.htm
I used to be able to sleep anywhere, anytime and was quite frustrated with my ever so light sleeping wife, who would, if ever so slightly disturbed, jump out of bed and stay awake until the next night, only to have trouble sleeping again.
Steve Gibson is on the trail of a supplement solution and his original *formula* was not cheap and had about a 50% success rate on people who tried it. Due to one of the supplements being "improved" and no longer suitable for his formula, he started from scratch and came up with a 2 capsule formula that appears to be much more successful.
He does caution that this is NOT for people who have trouble falling asleep, but rather for those who frequently wake up and thus have poor quality sleep. I had mixed results from the previous formula and I'm waiting for one of the two ingredients to come back in stock so I can try the new formula. Being in Canada makes it hard to source things sometimes.... what might be $10 in Amazon.com is close to $100 in Amazon.ca and so we need to shop around and find someone who sells at a reasonable price AND is willing to ship to Canada at a reasonable cost.
So, this may or may not be of help to the original poster, but hopefully someone here does find it of use.
Regards

Well to answer your original question. The Ambien CR is not as good as the regular Ambien. I was on the cr and asked to be put back on the regular Ambien. I don't take it anymore. I wake up every hour or so all night long. Never sleep more than 2 hrs straight. been like that since I can remember. Even with the Ambien. I just fell asleep faster with it. Good luck.

Thanked: 39I've never had any bad things happen while on it, It just puts me to sleep while if I don't take something I just stare at the ceiling all night long, The Ambian Cr. works but just as well as the regular stuff. Oh, well.

I have trouble sleeping too, T&O. I have to basically wake up early, work at least 12 hours, eat a natural diet void of processed foods, dim the lights, and refrain from computers in order to keep a regular sleeping schedule. It's a full time gig.
Nature likes variety, and I would be happy with a 28 hour day. The conscious mind may like an industrialised world, but I don't believe the body does.
Try watching the sunrise and sunset, walking if you can, and removing ingredients which have no place in a human.I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!
