I see am more your age Hirlau.
OMG Pokemon players are old enough to shave!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:rofl2:
I've heard of Pokemon but really have no idea what it is!
You lead a sheltered life!
My understanding is that it's an app on your phone that uses a ton of data and drains your battery while you walk around pointing your phone at everything hoping to discover a pokemon monster and get points or a score like that. I'm not interested in playing it but if I could walk around pointing my phone everywhere discovering hidden razors, strops, hones, brushes, etc. then I might give it a try!
Pokemon originally started as a brilliant marketing campaign. There was a videogame for nintendo' game boy (which all my friends and I played), a TV show and a collectable card game. All of them have been ongoing for 20 some years. The new smartphone app requires you to walk to landmarks and places of interest. There has been such an increase in foot traffic that many businesses in the area are booming with business. I'll never play, but quite fascinating.
I took the dog for a walk last night. There were more young people out in the park than usual, by far, and most were obviously playing Pokemon. The game is silly and probably a waste of time. I have captured 34 myself.
what are you supposed to do with them once you have them? start an imaginary menagerie?
I think you train them to fight in gyms. I don't expect to make it that far.
Since it has not been released in Denmark I can't. But as soon it does I will be all over with my Charmander :y In fact I still have pokemon cards somewhere.... Haha! :D
I am not sure i can take credit for it though. But if i can you are welcome to use it as a thread woven into the fabric of your conversations 😆
dinnermint you are right - this is fascinating. I feel like it's only the beginning and the potential for this type of thing is significant. We'll be at the malls searching for elves and Santa at Christmas, ghosts and mummies at Halloween, Easter eggs, leprechauns on St. Patty's, you name it!
Already complaints down here of random people wandering into peoples properties looking at their phone like they are taking photos.
Great idea to get people off the couch, one of my grandsons will literally spend all day gaming if you let him.
eventually someone is going to end up getting run over
There's a rumor, of a new story that I heard second or third hand, that someone died walking off of a bridge. Bot being true and untrue are just as likely.
I think this game might be a blessing in disguise, many people that would not get exercise, finally get some vitamin D. I'm not even one to judge, I have played an exorbitant amount of videogames and still do. I just prefer the ones where you shoot stuff...
When I was growing up in the 90's and early 2000's Pokémon was a big thing. I was aged 6-12.. I don't know why or how it came back around.. next thing I'm going to see is pogs! And crazie bones coming back. You'll know what I'm talking about if your a 90's kid or more likely your children who grew up in the 90's because there's a lot of old timers here.
There is a news story this week about a girl in Wyoming finding a dead body near a bridge when she was playing Pokemon. Also, a group in St. Louis allegedly used the game to lure unsuspecting players to be robbed.
I do find it funny some of the people I see out playing are totally oblivious of the natural surroundings they are walking through.
I read where someone laid in wait and robbed the pokyfolks as they stumbled into him.
What a millenial waste of dad's money!:p
Oh Gawd!
I thought about pokymen, but I expect girls and transgenders play too. Trying to be 'PC' here..
I can see Cheetah with his phone on a chest-bracket. Keeping his hands free, he can rub on a big old Sheffield with a brillo pad and run amok in the park...following his phone......Doing something. :roflmao
It's about time them Pokyfolks started Pack'n. Attachment 241137

Your just jealous nobody asked you to join the local Pokemon Chapter. :beer2:
That's it. :roflmao TBH, I am too old to know about it and steered my kids away from it. Weird stuff, IMO.
Anyhoo, I obviously don't play Pokemon (unless Cheetah comes around), so sorry to have hijacked the thread! :HJ
Such an important subject should remain with it's disciples.
Obviously, it is tons of fun for lots of....er...pokyfolks!
Get it on!
Now Tom,, not every game or club has to include guns, violence or stereotypical macho behavior.
On my way to work, I saw a woman must have slept in a hammock in a nearby park. Now that's some dedication!
I think I may be one of very few people in my age group to not jump on the pokewagon. Was at a bar with my father Monday night and it was filled with people playing the game, the owner was working that day and was quite happy with the turnout on a weeknight.
They released it in Denmark today but the servers has been down the whole day. Tonight the servers finally came back up and I must say, i'm hooked! Since i'm working outside, I won't accomplish much at work next week, haha!

Thank you for moving the thread, I was suffering fat-finger syndrome when I started this thread on my phone....
This thread wasn't really meant to hate on Pokeypeople, more of just another way to gather people together. To see how much this game has helped out the downtown area of my city is simply impressive. It has been languishing in inactivity for awhile, even with a weekly Friday night festival of sorts.
I never played it before this, but since I'm a runner, I figure it's something to do while out around the city. I will say, it is an interesting phenomena, there are people in our industrial lot out walking around at lunch, which didn't happen here prior to the game coming out, if nothing else, it gets people out for a walk at lunch or in the evening, and people end up socializing.
It is pretty cool for what I have seen, there's a dam on a river that runs through town with a park surrounding it. Roughly 100+ people frequent it now, whereas prior to the game there would be no one except a few runners and homeless people.
