I've had my Weber equivalent to the Performer for 7 years and love it. It's great. My next one will probably be a Big Green Egg though after seeing my brother-in-law's (with the electric starter of course, having a gas/electric starter for the coals is great).

IMHO you just can't beat the ceramic dome cookers like Big Green Egg, Primo, Grill dome, and the likes. They'll do everything from low'n'slow to searing steaks, baking bread, wonderful pizzas, etc. You can smoke a turkey or two on one load of charcoal, and everything comes out moist and tender and full of smokey flavor. They are a bit pricey, but my skeptical wife now agrees, it was money well spent.

I got a Weber Charcoal about a year ago, having switched form a propane, it makes a huge difference in taste in my opinion. A few weeks ago I picked up one of those cast iron smoking boxes that you put soaked wood chips into, then place it directly on the charcoals below the grill. If anyone wants to taste good BBQ give it a try....nice smokey flavor. The chips I used were mesquite flavored.
