Are you kidding. She who must be obeyed wouldn't let me within a mile of drilling holes in her nice new patterned concrete patio. She'd hit the roof and I'd be in the dog house for a very long cold winter.

In my neck of the woods you have 3 options. Gunite (like a concrete), vinyl liner with steel walls behind or preformed fiberglass. Most expensive by a lot is gunite because it has to be built to withstand harsh winter weather and extreme ground frost. Since my pool started life as a vinyl liner it was going to be much less expensive to do this reno keeping it that way. Putting in a gunite pool would likely be about $40k - $60k difference. The existing steel walls were in great shape so we elected to stick with vinyl.

Keep your concentration high and your angles low!

Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.
