Thanked: 1self teaching website building
I'm trying to improve my website design and building skills so I can improve the sites that I maintain. I'm comfortable with HTML and want to go to a next level.
I know CSS is popular but not sites seems to be going flash. Can anyone recommend a layman's book or other instructional tool so I can learn more about CSS and flash?
Thanks.

It won't help you with flash, but take a look a the W3 schools courses. They're online & free. (http://www.w3schools.com/)

Thanked: 0You should learn and understand CSS first, since separating the style from the structure makes your pages much easier to update. Check out csszengarden.com for a nice example of how css can be used.
Flash should be compared to JavaScript and be seen as a way to provide rich interfaces (closer to desktop programs) and multimedia.
