Ergonomic Vertical Mouse Better Than Sliced Bread !!
I've been having a lot of problems with my forearm, fingers of the right hand, and my elbow. Some is due to the wear and tear of 50 years of working, played hard when I was a kid too, but I believe a lot of it is from my mouse and keyboard.
Just got this vertical mouse today, and I have a Microsoft Ergonomic Sculpt keyboard coming Friday. The mouse seems great so far.
Anyone else suffer from computer related pain and suffering ? Any solutions that worked for you, besides leaving the darn thing shut down ?
Mine is wired, but they make a wireless one too ;

Hey Jimmy,
I fully understand the 50+ years of personal 'wear and tear' but I'm of no help with the computer crap as I'm a Mastodon with it.
I also doubt that this will be of any help and I apologize for the poor video quality.

I've seen some really different mice with a vertical arrangement. That one looks tame by comparison. I don't know if it works or not but I hope it solves your problem.

Not pain per sé, but after long days using the mouse constantly, I could feel my wrist. So I decided to try a vertical mouse (Evoluent) and I must say, it is much better, don't feel the wrist ! So I'm all for. And I would say to those working a lot with a computer, it's better to buy an ergonomic mouse sooner rather than later.

What a great idea. If you use a computer for any length of time, just turning your wrist and repositioning your hand will probably make all the difference in the world.
Cudarunner : that video is awesome!!

Roughly ten years ago, when I first started living on my own, my life was simple. Every aspect. I stocked shelves at the grocery store to pay my bills. I had only a bicycle for transportation. $25-$40 a week for food, with about $15 a month of wiggle room in the budget. So the only possessions I had that weren't clothes (and two of the usual types of dishes) for the first eight months was my desktop computer that I gamed on, and the desk and chair for it. Buying cheap in those categories taught me about ergonomics the hard way.
No computer chair that retails for under $100 will be comfortable for more than an hour or two. None!
Then there was the mouse I was using. Which gets me on-topic... Sorry for rambling lol. I was using a Labtec optical mouse that had to have retailed for $10-$15. It is not suitable for more than occasional use.
That mouse caused nearly crippling pain to my wrist. The hand position itself wasn't horrible, it was the shape. The sides just slope down. You have to apply a lot of grip with your non-clicking phalanges when you need to reposition the mouse on the pad.
Mostly being a gamer when on the computer, I despise wireless peripherals (dead batteries & lag). The ergonomic mouse I bought (right before it was discontinued!) was the Logitech G5 laser mouse.
This was in the $50-$65 range. It fits the shape of your hand very well, IMO. And you can even customize the weight of it!

I don't know if they have an ergonomic version, but a keyboard I was lusting over (before my PC was too obsolete to game on anymore) is called "Das Keyboard". It is a device that can be abused, and still work!
