I am a big fan of GoT. Primarily the books, but I do love the tv series as well. And as my wife also likes the show, it's one that we watch together. I do need to act as a guide for my wife, explaining who is who and what the relevance is of X, but that's all good.

Yesterday we watched the finale to season 6, and it was just pure awesome. A number of story threads got wrapped up nicely, and one of the biggest twists was Cersei. I did NOT see that coming. This is to me the best moment of the season. Perhaps of the entire series so far, in terms of awesome.

At first I thought something would happen at her trial, one way or the other. When it was clear she was not showing up, I started to wonder where this was going.
I have the say this is also one of the best uses of dramatic music I have seen in a loooong time.
Pycelle got his grisly comeuppance and at first I didn't understand why they spend time on Lancel going through the catacombs.
When Lancel got stabbed in the back and you see him looking at the casks, I thought: 'I wonder if....'
And then the viewpoint changes to Cersei looking at the great Sept and I say out loud 'Wildfire...'

My wife of course doesn't get what is going on so I tell her to just keep looking because this will be epic.
The dramatic music continues, Margaery understands that despite out maneuvering Cersei at every point, she's going to lose.
And then...

This was just awesome. I think Cersei's a bitch who should have died many times already, but this move was just tactical brilliance.
Of course she also destroyed whatever chance she had in the long run because the Tyrells are the ones feeding the city, and she has no allies left outside her family.
Still, wonderful dramatic twist that I didn't see coming until I saw those casks.
