Happy New Year backatcha, Geek. I was all over your beautiful country back in June, and hope to make it back someday.

After flying into Aberdeen and a short stay there, we drove a rent-a-car West along the coast to Inverness. We spent a night in a stone cottage in the lovely, pastoral area of Shenval. From there we explored down A-82 into the Highlands, which was by far my favorite part. We took the Jacobite/Harry Potter steam train from Fort William down to Mallaig and back, went to the top of Ben Nevis, toured some distilleries, and spent a couple of nights in Glencoe.

My wife and I have been all over the world exploring and hiking the beautiful mountains we love so much, and I have never seen any place that held a candle to your stunning Highlands-just breathtaking scenery. I hope to visit them againn!

Well if you do take a jump to aviemore and head to the Cairngorm brewery. Nice beers and a great tour. When we went the tour lasted all of about 20 minutes. The story telling and 'tasting' lasted about an hour and a half 😂 there was plenty tasted.
