The Constitution is a self-correcting instrument. If you try too go to far to the left or right it will automatically adjust with our right to vote.
In theory that is very true but let us not forget during various periods in our nation's history whole populations of citizens simply did not have the right to vote or their rights have been monkeyed with. This has been done by both parties both legally and illegally. So that right to vote needs to be defended at all times for every citizen.

Let's also remember there are those on both sides of the political equation whose interests are best served by by conflict, division, and strife between citizens.

Maybe as this thread develops we will have the opportunity to examine these and other issues to better understand the problems facing us.
