IMHO, I don't think California has enough electrical power and water of their own without out side help.

The power company I worked for in Washington sold lots of power to Cal in summers. With out the in coming river water they are toast.
That's no problem. The can build nuke plants and desalinization plants and worse comes to worse they can invade.Quote:

California's economy is larger than all but 5 countries. Electricity generation isn't a problem either. They can still buy electricity from Washington or anywhere else unless there is an embargo or the free market is suddenly not going to apply to California.
If Switzerland can make it I think California would do just fine. :)
If Idaho wants to secede (for instance) that might be a more difficult scenario.
