    Default Road Trip

I go Friday for my second pain block in the lower back. A little over a year ago I had a disk in the lower spin worked on and L4 and L5 vertebrae pinned. This last June I got my first pain block and this friday I get the second one. What's going to be good is I leave out on the 28 for a road trip to Sturgis S D. A little over 1200 miles there and my first trip to Sturgis. I've made several rides to Daytona which is a little over 800 miles and I made those trips on a Heritage Harley. This trip will be on a street glide. Looking forward to it.

Have you made any of those Daytona trips in the past year?

I hope for pain-free fun for you!

I hope the procedure goes well and you get the relief that you expect

Also enjoy the ride. I'll be leaving in 4 days for my journey through WA, OR, CA and possible NV, AZ and ID.

However: It's not the destination it's the Journey and I'm looking forward to that journey

That's when I got thru Sturgis last year, max week early and still buzzing, with a lot less crowds so you can actually get into some of the bar and grills, and if it's your first your in for treat the scenery is great and there are several rides you just got to do. At least get to the Devils Tower and maybe Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. Have a great trip, I've only been riding local the last few days but did ride over to Pickwick fir a bbq the other day. Oh and Than hotter than Hades in South Dakota. But I,m sure you know that. Have fun Rodger. Tc

Hope it works. 4 years ago I had a microdiscectomy on L5/S1 and L4/L5 fused. I was worried about riding, once I healed, having them fused. But, thankfully, the Dr. I had was on top of his game that day, as I have not had 1 iota of issues.

As for Sturgis. I've rode there 5 times, from central Illinois (just a touch over 1K miles). 4 times we went via I80 thru Iowa, then I90 thru SD. Other than the I80 truck stop....not much to see, in Iowa. And other than the Corn palace...not much to see in SD, until you get to the Black hills.

The last time we went west to Colorado, then looped back around to hit the rally. That, to me was the best. Longer, of course, but I liked the scenery better.

You'll have a good time, I'm sure. Keep it right side up and be safe.

I hope your back is good to go for your ride, Hensley-I haven't ridden in close to 30 years myself after selling my bike following a couple of close calls.

Anyway, we did a family road trip about 10 years ago to Montana, Yellowstone and that whole area. We drove back via the Devil's Tower, Badlands, Black Hills area. There is certainly some stunning scenery out there, and yeah, I've never seen so many bikers! And for what it's worth, obviously we had to take the kids to Mt. Rushmore, but I was far more impressed with the mighty scale and grandeur of the emerging Crazy Horse memorial-still decades' worth of work to finish carving him out of that mountain!

And yeah, driving East across South Dakota there's almost nothing, just the "amber waves of grain" from the song. Nebraska's just as barren, only with corn. Oh, well, so many incredible sights in this beautiful country of ours to see. I still have yet to explore the Pacific Northwest or New England-maybe someday.

Enjoy the trip! I certainly hope those injections work better for you than they did for me. I had 4 within 2 months back in 1991. IIRC, the first two injections only lasted for 3 days, the last one lasted 45 of the 65 miles I had to travel from Knoxville to get back home ............

It's been a week sense the second shot and the pain is all but gone. They said i could get up to 4 in a year but if it stays like this i want need one so the trip is looking good. Serviced the bike and have already packed most of what i'm going to carry. I'm not going to over pack like I have in the past. Just 14 more days till we leave. As far as the Daytona trip in Oct. We are getting everyone here who's committed on the trip before we make reservations. If enough go we will either rent a condo or a house. We've found one house for a 1000 a night but if you split that between 10 or 12 it would be kind of cheap.
