Or for those of you that don't know the nautical term, of knots. Its....shiver me timbers, batten the hatches, Mr. Christian. The balls have frozen from the brass monkey..!!

Which by the way, is a real thing. Well...used to be.

It was a brass rod, shaped into a triangle, which held a stack of cannon balls on the ships deck. When temps dropped low enough, the ring would contract enough, the balls would fall off. That triangle was called, The Brass Monkey.

Years ago there was a radio weather man on one of the Toronto stations whose sign off on a cold winter day was “It’s so cold it’ll freeze the brass of a bald monkey.”

I reckon they're shrimp, and, when I feel naughty enough, a bit more fast acting insulin is the order of the day to keep my sugar under control (I love chocolate)

The photo is a bit deceiving.
    That's a big bucket.

Crayfish on top which I guess is close to lobster.
Have seen frozen lobster here from Canada, they were tiny. A Cray that size is illegal to take.

Paua, which is black abalone, just found out from a mate in Aussie they don't taste quite the same as abalone there.

At the bottom is kina, or sea urchin. Don't dive any more, but the grandchildren and children do.

All delicious, maybe Gasman is an inlander..

On the way home there was a huge stag about 100 yards off the road, looked around a 12 pointer. Tried to get a photo but he slipped into the bush.
Was a fun day spent with family.
