It was an unexpected gift of about 3/4 left over from a sawdust block after planting some in wood.
I had to make a quick decision what to do and this is what I did rather than throw it away.
I had some perlite and a tub so nothing to loose!

Those 'Green Things' are Very Young Fiddle Head Ferns.

Roy is correct and those are the Ostrich fern fiddles. I tried some Cinnamon ferns before and they were OK but unless I was very hungry or showing someone and having fun I wouldn't go out of my way for them. They tasted like eating grass to me....
:OT Many years ago the company I worked for had a lot of stores in Canada and made huge profits there so they started having an annual 'Canadian Appreciation Days' in which they featured as many Canadian produce products as they could. Anything from those fiddle head ferns to smoked sausages and everything in between.
The first year in they had the fiddle head fern greens and some potatoes in the produce part of the AD but I can't remember what else. Anyway, we got our produce loads on Monday-Wednesday and Friday. The AD broke on Wednesday and we hadn't gotten the greens on the Monday but they were on the load for Wednesday.
I'd just dug them off the freight (they came in 10# burlap bags) and was just getting ready to open the bag and put them on display when a woman asked if we'd gotten the greens in. I said yes, they are in this bag. She said "Don't bother opening the bag, I'll take all you have". Well that was all I had.
She wasn't from Canada but from Northern Minnesota or Michigan and had gathered the greens from the nearby streams when she was a girl and she hadn't had them in years.
I ended up ordering three bags for the Friday delivery-One for display and the other two for her.
I did try them and like the gal in the video said, they do taste a bit like a cross between asparagus and green beans---'kinda'--
Sounds interesting. I'll have to look for them. Doubt we have them in South Texas though. You never know....
No fiddles in TX they only grow up north here but you can buy them-----------------

I am sure there are many ferns that grow in at least some parts of texas. I have no idea about the taste and edibility of them though. :D
Well, I guess I'll just have to go out back and graze with the Longhorns for now.....
Go easy John, too much fiber ya know

That must be some mans castle & that's a moat around it.
[QUOTE=DZEC;1874808]First and foremost; My apologies for this as it's not wordless and it's not a picture. With that said, never write online and then leave the site open if you don't want your 'Crazy' husband to see it. :w

See the stuff you were missing in the daylight?
That was on the way to work. I do see a little day light at work. But not much. Yesterday/last night was my last night! :y
Roy, I hope that picture means spring has sprung and you are getting ready for a glorious ride.

I've seen the same thing before, different day, trucks & so on.
While I've been putting on some nice miles, the iron horse has a 'rattle' that I can't find and it's driving me nuts. The damn noise comes and goes but when it's 'on' it sounds like something should fly off of the bike. Anyone who's worked on mechanical things knows that if it isn't 'Doing It' you can't diagnose it.
I've looked and looked, I've tapped and tapped nothing seems amiss or loose. I've checked the primary chain slack and I believe it's within specs soooooo-----
It's at the bike shop that I trust. The lead mechanic has been working on all brands of bikes professionally for 50 years. I do hope that it's something simple and easy to fix.
I'm still planning on riding out to see Joel (Benz) on the 23rd. First night in Missula MT (after riding up Lo Lo Pass) Second night after a hard ride in Miles City then an easy ride to Joel's in ND.
He did it proper. It has to be given in person, for it to work. Its a real neat tradition, between bikers.
My family is full of um, I've never cared to ride.
