Good luck with the recovery John.

I have a couple of pairs of compression garments (calves & quads) for use after particular strenuous training sessions and without a doubt they definitely help with recovery and inflammation of the muscles.

These are the ones I use from Compressport. https://www.compressport.com/categor...t-compression/

Like others have said the doctors know what they are talking about (well I always hope they do).

If it is helping then that's great but it might just be worth checking with your therapist/doctor to ensure that they won't cause any other issues.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

    Aloha!

Personally, I have never worn compression socks or sleeves, but as a Triathlete, I do see them in Triathlon competition. Many Triathletes wear compression socks and sleeves for such heavy workouts as a 2.2 mile swim, a 101 mile bike and then a 27 mile run. Especially in Duathlons where it's all legwork (Run, then bike, then run again with no swim portion) you see many Duathletes wear compression socks. They ALL say they help tremendously with cramping and leg pain.

I've recently been prone to sciatica after workouts, so I may try compression socks to help a bit, as I feel a lot of my sciatic pain in my calves. Anything to help with sciatic pain. Those of you that suffer from Sciatia know what I mean. It can be brutal. I've never had Sciatic pain before in my life, and now I sympathize with those that have it. You'll do anything to rid yourself of that pain.

Good luck with your new knee, OP. With today's technology in medicine, we are fortunate that we can get "spare body parts" like this. 100 years ago it was unheard of and even 50 years ago, it was just in experimental stages.

As a physician/surgeon (and former triathlete), I recommend them to my patients. I wear compression almost daily. I personally think it helps emensely, but I don't know if the literature backs it up except for patients with vascular disease. I personally like SLS and CEP brand. Best of luck with your recovery.

I,m with Nelson there are different levels and point of pressure that you need to benefit your particular needs, talk to your PT person or Orth Dr. my knees haven't been replaced "YET" but will, but I wear them on my knees if I,m really doing anything that makes my knees flare up with inflammation. so let them get you in something that will target your swelling,, my knees bend much better when the swelling is gone good luck john,,, by the way you should have had them replace both and add a couple inches to your stature! just kidding my friend Tc

Tc,,,, if I had a way to add a few inches, the knees would not be the first choice.

Good to see you don't need a sense of humor replacement! Take care of yourself, John-I hope you can still hone razors and shave?!

John, Call the PT department at one or more hospitals. There are really effective "blue bags" made for ease of getting the compression sock on.
They sure beat the heck out of using a trash bag to slide the socks over. Made a great deal of difference for the few weeks after the major surgery done unto me.
    Get better mo quicker!
