Temporary absence
Gentlemen, I just wanted to announce that I won't be active here for a while even though I may check in on occasion.. In addition to being sent to do some field work with no net access on the 15th, a close friend of mine got into an accident on a motorcycle and what should have been a fairly routine treatment for a person of that age got riddled with life-threatening complications. She has been in my prayers since it happened and will continue to be until the complications go away.
P.S. JS, I am sorry about the long delay in doing your razor. I'll finish it and mail it out for sure before I leave. It may be a b***h of a project due to being intially duller than a butter-knife, but working on it helps me relax, especially now.

No such luck Josh... She's doing a lot better and already giving the nurses a triple dose of hell.. In addition to that, the trip got bumped up a couple of days more, so your evil plan won't work
JS, I think I'll have a bit of time to re-lap the Norton and finish your Wacker. Sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience.

Thanks Josh. All that's left for her is to rest for a little while and start her physio. I hope your friend gets back on track as well.

Gentlemen, I'm leaving for Calgary-->Saskatoon-->Yellowknife-->Great Bear Lake-->??????????-->Back to Toronto in about 7.5 hours. The expected return date will be early 2nd week of August, depending on how the job goes. Looking forward to finding more time to spend with my 2nd family -- the SRP, when I get back.

Hello gentlemen. Due to some organizational screwups by the client, they sent us back almost immediately, so this was basically a paid vacation for me. Got some very nice pics including midnight sun (actually it was a bit past midnight), some chopper flybys and me piloting an Otter. The downer was that I caught a cold from my coleague on our way up there and the tent furnace wasn't functioning so it aggravated the bug. On a good note, that happened near the end of the trip. I'll post the pics when I'm feeling a bit better. Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's good to be back!
Meh, here are the pics:
Here's the bus that took us from the deserted landing strip (we should have had a chopper waiting for us there) to the lodge where we stayed overnight. A 1 week trip down there costs $5000 Zoom in on the bumper sticker.
Here are my coleague and I working hard (I was resting from holding the pool table for a while)
This picture was taken at midnight... Total freakout lol
Here's the chopper that flew us to the grid and would have been taking us there had the client secured a proper camp and an actual grid..
Here's me in camp. The hood, the jeans, the outer shirt and the pants got sprayed with heavy doses of deet as we had mosquitos, black flies and worst of all, horse flies attacking us all the time. I wasn't trying to look ghetto. This was all for protection.
Me piloting an Otter twin engine hydroplane. They can also be fitted with skis for winter landings.
