What terrible news, for my wild range of musical tastes, I had several Glen Campbell songs on my workout tape.
He is a superb musician and a poet....he will be sorely missed, and may he rest in peace.
This is about one of my favourites from Glen, Gentle on my Mind

An American Icon. We were lucky to have had him in our lifetime.
This is my favorite performance of "Wichita Lineman" that Glen did toward the end of his career. His disease was already present but not yet diagnosed as Alzheimers. His behavior with the camera is a little "off" and you can tell something is not quite right, but the performance is just stellar. His daughter Ashley once commented that when his disease really took hold, even then, every once in a while, he would play a lick on the guitar and she'd be amazed that the talent transcended the disease. This is one of those performances, one of the last on the Jools Holland show from London.
An amazing talent, even at this stage of his career with the disease already in progress. RIP.
And just a quick nod to Jimmy Webb for writing such a beautiful song for Glen to perform.Last edited by ZipZop; 08-08-2017 at 09:41 PM.

I am sure you received a warm embrace and will have an eternity of peace Mr. Campbell. Thank you for all you have left for us.

This just makes me kinda sad.
It's one thing when they leave by the needle or the pill or the bottle...and we are reminded of the waste of a life..
And it's another when the come back from those struggles only to be called away when they are doing what makes both them and us happy...
May he rest in peace...

Glen was a favorite of mine when I was a young teenager.
My friend and I used to play our guitars and sing his songs.
The Rhinestone Cowboy rides off into the sunset for the last time...
May he rest in peace.

Certainly a great talent. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011. Not sure how far it had progressed before he passed, but I'd bet he is happier where he is now. R.I.P.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
