Thread: Hurricane Harvey

My family riding it out in northwest Houston. I'm stuck, broke down in Harrisonburg, VA.

Prayers for everyones safety and hope all you guys down there are riding it out well.

I'm East of Houston. Just rain and a little wind here. Think my turn will come later if it follows expected track. Hope it's not as bad as Alison was here. She dropped 30" of rain. Hope the people south and west are well. I keep you in my prayers.

View outside is beginning to remind of the the old saying involving a cow and a flat rock.

Just watched a video on the Weather Channel showing someone this morning in Houston driving through blowing burning debris.....very scary!! Reminded me of the Smokey Mountain fires we had here in TN a few months ago. Wind, rain and flooding is one thing, blowing burning debris has to be Hell!

Jlander I have a lot of friends in Huffman & I used to own property there but I know they're partying. That's what they do there. You must be out closer that way than where I'm at now. I'm in Sugar Land.

I live in Chambers county. Up on the top of Trinity bay. No parties around here though. I could use one. No wind here from Harvey, but the feeder bands just won't stop. Saw that they are going to start releasing water from Addicks at 2am, then Barker later as both are nearing capacity. You guys in Sugarland have been getting hammered all day.

One day shy of landfall, a relative of mine was quoted as saying the news media were playing up the potential devastion that could be unleashed by Harvey, so therefore "fake news."

How dumb do you have to be to question the veracity of weather forecasts?!

I have to laugh at news media because they're so afraid the other tv stations or radio stations are going to outdo them so sometimes they just get downright stupid by jumping to conclusions & assuming before they know the real truth. They assume things, then when they are wrong, they act as if they did nothing wrong. They really amaze me at times but they can assume so much at times that when watching the news, someone holds up a board for them to read an update & then they get tongue-tied
