Default anyone here in the Straight Key Century Club?

Just checking. It is a world wide club. And for folks that dont know what it is, its for folks that like to send radio signals the old fasion way. With a Straight Key. Not electronic or bug or digital.

You mean CW or Morse Code?

I didn't know there was a club for that. It's all part of amateur radio.

But are you in the club Paul? Sending CW is lots of fun to me. I enjoy it more than phone modes. If not look into the SKCC. mainly state side but if your a Ham you know our conditions suck right now so State side works.

And Yes, CW (Continuous Wave) Or Morse Code. It was the first form of wireless communication and will most likely be the last form too. Let just hope its a long time from now.
Typing out Dits and Dauhs is no fun or I'd work Paul here on the form. But it wouldn't count.

BTW, This is my favorite straight key. Its not straight but it is mechanical and thats what maters. Its a newer version. Made in the USA.

I know just enough CW to be dangerous....

Thanks for reminding me that I am due for renewal in Nov.

When conditions are as bad as they are its hard to turn the radio on. Be sure to renew. That lic. If for no other reason at least you keep the same call.

Get to practicing that cw. I put in a little time the other day and i seem to be around 15wpm on rx and 20 wpm on tx. Well i guess that is ok with me. I can send the basics at 30 wpm (call, 5nn, 73, tu) but when some dxpedition replys at that speed, as long as they dont try having a conversation, im ok but to chat i use the straight and it drops way down in speed and they normally give up because im not quick enough. Thars ok with me. The electronic key is fast but its not as fun for me.

Hope to work you all some day soon. We could set up a time and freq. I can be on the air mon or tues night. Anyone?
