Even though we've know this has been coming for over a year, it still hurts.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Shane Koyczan is an incredible spoken word poet. He posted this today to Facebook, and I think it bears re-posting:
Wrote this while Gord was on his last big Canadian tour. I was in the hospital at the time, so I didn't get to go to any those shows, but I remember watching the final concert on CBC. I remember feeling in awe of his performance while simultaneously realizing how much today is going to hurt. Goodbye, Gord.
Gift Shop
(For Gord)
There's going to be a scar
born on top of the day you leave us
that's what I've learned about hurt
it is a gift shop that we linger in
each wound a souvenir
that cost us something
we pay for our scars
and this one's going to hurt
because there have been nights
we have worn your music
like a stitch over an open vein
like a cast
over the ribs we broke
from beating our chests
thinking we could stop our hearts from feeling this
we brace for the scar
we will inherit from your departure
selfishly
we flood into the gift shop
we flip past the many millions of postcards
meant to express the sentiment
"miss you so much...
...wish you were here"
we shuffle through them all
just looking for the one among them
that says
"thank you so much...
...wish you could stay".
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Gord was an incredible individual and artist, and even though I am nowhere near Canadian, his lyrics and music reached deep inside me for well over 25 years. And, even though he lives on in my heart and memories, I really miss him and all that he wasn’t able to create thanks to cancer.
@Cangooner — thanks for the “Gift Shop” poem; that song brings back great memories of that show!--Mark
