Halloween 2017
Happy Halloween All!
Back in '56 a man named Willie Parker recommended my dad for a position with Green Giant Co. Dad would be an employee for well over 40 years.
Way back then home made treats were not only allowed but very sought after. Willie's wife's name was Celeste and if Celeste was alive today and I took my grandchildren Trick or Treating to the Parker home they would receive the same 'Treat' that I got year after year after year. And that was homemade Caramel Corn.
Celeste would have it in small paper bags and taped closed. Oh the memories.
So for many years now at Halloween to bring back some very happy memories I make my own version of caramel corn. While I won't give my homemade caramel corn out to the trick or treaters my grandkids really enjoy it. All I'm lacking is those small paper bags.
So you start out with plain unsalted popcorn;
Then you make a sauce;
Pour the sauce over the popcorn and stir it in--and it's a sticky gooey mess;
Place it in an oven at 200 degs and remove and stir every 15 minutes for an hour then spread it out to cool--and VOILA! Crispy Crunchy Sweet Caramel Corn that Celeste would be proud of!
I'll post the recipe here:

I hope all will enjoy
Happy Halloween!
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 315I could try to find you some small paper bags if you want, and you could send some back full if you had the notion.
Very nice. Would love to do more stiff like this at home but my wife acts like I'm bringing home dope if I buy any junk food.

Thanks for the offer of the small bags but I can find them here. Also if I were to send you some it would be similar to if you bought it at the store.
Now about 'buying junk food' You are overlooking your 'Out' and that is that you didn't bring it home from the store but in fact you made it yourself so it's not Junk Food---It's Comfort Food.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 315Your wife obviously isn't Korean Chinese. They don't make that distinction! We had to talk her into letting our daughter have a smash cake with whipped cream 'icing' for her 1 year birthday party with my relatives.
Her family is a lot healthier (and slimmer) than mine though!

Thanks for the recipe - I'll definitely try that out. After snacking on *far* too many mini chocolate bars today, some caramel corn would make a very nice change!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
