    Great thread. Aside from 'Secret Agent Man' from the short lived TV show 'Secret Agent', a very worthy entrant would be 'Paint It Black' from the well done TV show 'Tour Of Duty'

    I don't think it's any coincidence that most of the memorable theme songs are from the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Big budgets were allotted to make these opening songs to lure viewers. Studios used big bands, really good talent, in house composers and spent more than a passing moment creating theme songs. Have a look at 77 Sunset Strip, I Spy, The Avengers, or most any TV show from that era.
