Back to the original question of soccer catching on the the US . . . I don't see it happening in the foseeable future.
While soccer is being force-fed to our kids through organized sports, I don't see it catching on here as a spectator sport. The kids games I've gone to have had a lot of action: high scores, errors, etc. But when I've watched a professional game, I'm bored stiff.
The crowd will suddenly go wild and I'm wondering why. It seems that just moving the ball close to the net (or just kicking it in the general direction of the goal) is sufficient to excite the fans. Why?
When watching a pro soccer game, I always wonder why the players don't try harder to get to the ball when it comes near. . . perhaps it's not not as close as it appears on TV.
It's not the low scores; hockey is a low-scoring game, but hockey is full of action.
And I really don't like the shootout to end a tie.

I like the looks of rugby ---- I think I would have played it if I had the chance (of course I might of been too much of a pussy but I like to think I would of). Playing organized American Football is a little too organized for my taste ---rugby looks fun to play in the sense that it is free flowing and looks to be fairly simple as a game ----I don't mean easy but more simple than American Football. Definitely more my taste than soccer.

I like hockey.
You know what would make soccer more interesting??
Give them sticks and let them punch each other..... NOT THE FANS !!!!

Aren't you allowed to handle the ball in lacrosse and hurling?
