Supposed to be losing weight and lowering my cholesterol. Now I'm wanting some apple pie,
or pecan, or lemon meringue, or all of them at once...

    He was not.

After a brief time it was clear that he was feeling very threatened by me. He finally asked me a couple of questions that had nothing to do with the topic of the meeting but he was very upset when I answered them. Finally, he asked me to how many decimals did I know Pi? I responded with 3.14159.

He literally jumped out of his seat and yelled "two seven!"

I told him that I never felt the need for Pi past 5 decimals, but it did not matter to him. He sat smugly for the rest of the meeting confident of his victory. I think of him every time I think of Pi and never regretted not telling him that I had memorized it to 100 decimals.
I think I work with his son!!!

Did you read the book “Life of Pi” or see the movie? The title character memorized the decimal expansion of Pi to an amazing number of digits.

Anything past 3.14 doesn't matter... Unless you making apple pi of course, then it matters...

It’s a math/science nerdy thing. March 14 is 3rd month 14th day, so 3.14 which represent the first 3 digits of pi. March 14, 2015 was 3.1415 which was the first 5 digits. We math geeks really celebrated that one!

Yup, I remember Pi from school math class. It was a file and forget thing for me and I never to my recall used it for anything in my life. I googled it and when it first started I was well out of school, had a family and was on the way to a divorce. Just never came up on the radar until now. Never too old to learn something new.

Seems to me that I learn something new on SRP every time I sign in.
