    Default Outlook Express absence notification

When one is away on holiday/vacation e-mails tend to keep coming. If I'm well informed it is possible to have Outlook Express send a message back to the sender giving notice that you are away for a while.

Can onyone tell me how this works?

And how about an automatic absence notification for PMs on SRP?

In the top right of the windows pane, go to Tools, use the drop down menu and select Out Of Office Assistant. Click I am currently out of the office, and put the appropriate message in the text box.

    Jimmy,

I am sorry I am not that clever with computers but when I click on Tools in Windows XP I do not get anything like an Out of office Assistant. The Help menu isn't helpful either.

The Tools drop down menu gives me options like: Map Network Drive, Disconnect Network Drive, Synchonize etc.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Tools - message rules - mail then tick the all messages box and the reply with message box below that then you can click on the little message in the rule box below and give it your message.

Oh, and you have to select the tools menu from outlook express itself to see this.

Default You have to be using an Exchange server for your email....

If you aren't, that option is not available and doesn't appear on the tools drop down list.

You have to be on an exchange server for this option to be available. most home computers are not set up as a server, and therefore do not have this option available. My guess is the when this option is availble it is on the office computer, and you work for a sizeable employer (more than just a mom and pop shop).

My internet service provider appeared to have an out of office assistant feature that I have programmed to send an absence notification wth a message when we'll be back to everyone who emails the surgery. That's better than programming Outlook Express because if you do so you'll have to keep your desk top on all the time which we did not intend to do.

    Thanks for the input guys!
