Thumbs up First ride >10mi for 2007

Well, for the sake of honesty - simply 1st bike ride for 2007, period.

Just got back home. Real Feel temp was 104F Just brutal. Ice in bottle melted instantly (almost) and despite drinking b/e the ride I was already dehydrating in the first 3 miles. Took a couple of minutes to get comfortable with the cadence, old knee wasn't bad.

Now I *only* need to stick with it

    Cheers
    Ivo

    Good one Ivo

My wife and I recently bought bikes to get fit again. We live in a mountainy area. I took my bike out for a spin around the local roads - first time in about 4 years. About 3 hills into the ride (<20 minutes) I had to get off and push!

O, the shame (whenever a car came past I pretended I had a flat....)

Lol, this made my day! (beats Yannis including the photo of the Vienna Regulator with his 7-day set)

Hills don't take prisoners, no sir! Pushing is not shameful, but the fact that you pretended to have a flat just had me in stitches (yes, I ride in Florida, so it's not fair).

I am sure that you have the will to stick with it, just don't make it too hard on yourself - find a less hilly stretch where you can start to build up power and endurance

    Good luck!

Cadence, now there's a word you don't often see used anywhere. Very good for you Ivo, it can only be doing you well.

Must be the year of the bike. I got my bike out this year also, mine is a racer and goes like the wind, pity the rider doesn't anymore though. My tires are so narrow and I had forgotten how unforgiving and hard a ride was on this bike of mine. It's a Shogun Ninja and really is a light weight compared to my wifes mountain bike which weighs a ton and must use so much more energy to push than mine.

    Good on you Ivo.................

    Cheers

I got out last week for a short ride, forgot how fast you get unused to the saddle. Two years in a kitchen did nothing for my long ride

Think I'll go out today just cause...

Ah yes I forgot how sore your ass could feel after a bike ride, especially with a racing saddle.

I changed my Specialized Avatar seat to a Terry Ti "Buzz off" - very happy with it, and it's still considered a "race" seat

Funny - my ass wasn't sore at all I'm going out again tonight after work - hopefully I'll get the gluteus maximus tenderus!

(I was thinking of breaking out my old cycle computer, but maybe I should just take the pedometer...and a tyre repair kit... )

I can't imagine a week without a bike...let alone over half a year. But good on ya, keep up the fitness
