Pirates of the Caribbean sans Johnny Depp?
Just read where Disney is making another Pirates movie, but without Johnny Depp. They didn’t say whether the movie would or wouldn’t include Jack Sparrow though. I think making one with anyone else playing Captain Jack Sparrow would be a mistake. What say you? Will you watch it or not?

Thanked: 603Feh. Disney will destroy the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise the same way that Sony ruined "Ghostbusters". I can see it now: Rosie O'Donnell as Cap'n Jack Sparrow... readers are invited to supply the rest of the crew. And no, I won't watch it... neither in theaters, nor on TV... not even streaming online.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

I'm a Johnny Depp fan, in his movies anyway, I try to know nothing of actors personal and political lives as often disappointed.
His character did indeed seem to just drag along with the other characters the same in a cookie-cutter franchise.
And I've not even seen them all!
I figure I will someday, but with all the other great movies out there.. Maybe not.“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

I’m with you JB. Your comparison with Ghostbusters hit it perfectly. I have refused to watch the new GB because of the new star who I have as yet to find funny or talented. I will not watch Pirates either. Rosie O donell. That’s priceless. Tc

Remakes always leave me cold, it seems. They have lost their imagination.
A new generation of lazy film 'makers', IMO.

Thanked: 556Goes right along with the remakes of TV series. Do we need to see Magnum PI resurrected? Will they bring back I Dream of Genie too?
Surely there are enough creative people in entertainment land that some can come up with some new premises. I’m getting sick of cop shows, doctor shows, supernatural shows, ... How many times do you have to go around on a theme?David

The one remake that I liked was True Grit. I liked the original ok, except for the Mattie Ross character. I think the new one nailed the intent of the book.

Thanked: 603100%
FWIW (and apologies if I seem to be hijacking the thread), I spent some six hours last night (until 3AM this morning!) "binge-watching" the National Geographic channel's wonderful series from 2016, "Mars". Wow... just wow. An interesting, informative, and entertaining blend of NASA history with PG-rated and intelligent, well-acted drama. What's even better, is that Season 2 premieres on Monday night, November 12th, at 9PM. I'm so excited! (יושב על קוצים)You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
