I have a couple of humidors. But all of mine are spanish cedar lined. I have a old Savenilli Pottery type humidor for pipe tobacco. Very beautiful to look at but it dont seal worth a darn. Have a couple older pipe tobacco humidors that are glass and the wooden lid don't seal real great either. But if I had one blend of pipe tobacco I smoked all day long and nothing else I dont guess the seal would matter too much.

Sorry for getting off the subject of cigars and on to pipes. I have never used a copper lined humidor. I was told once from a guy in a cigar shop. That the cedar lined humidors and even the cedar humidors with glass windows in them work better than the old copper linned ones. But the shop he worked in did not sell copper lined humi's. So that could why he was not pushing them.

After rereading my post I think I did no good at trying to help you with your question. But I hope I maybe helped a little.

If I were to buy a new humidor (and I am looking at all the different desk top models - so many choices, but I do intend to get one, or two, or...) of course I would choose a Spanish Cedar lined box. That is supposed to be the best and, as far as I know, all that is offered in new, quality humidors today.

I was just very curious about this antique that I have. I figured if someone here knew, great. If not, no big deal.

Thanks for all the suggestions and answers though!

    only a thinking
Tobacco leaves are infected with a worm that makes small holes( 1-1 1/2mm) in cigars.
Today cigar leaves are especially treated to resist in this infection ( no 100% protection)

Probably if cooper is wormicide(?) ..... This is the reason of cooper lining.
Today wormicidic action on an infected box of cigars is deep freezing, but in the past......
