Thanked: 1936"Official" is the key word! Not sure if you meant mutt or nut...either works.

As far as the family rumors go my ancestry is Norwegian. English and Belgian (possibly Jewish since the last name was Nichols).Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

I did mine through Ancestry.com. The first time it came back with the majority Eastern Europe Jewish with traces in England, North Africa, and India. Quite fascinating to say the least. A short time later they did some refining of their technique and all the traces disappeared and it was 99% European Jewish. I did know from family history that the Jewish part had traces of Russia, Poland, Chechoslavia, and Germany.

I never really felt compelled to do the DNA testing. My Grandmother contacted a professional genealogist who is a distant relative. My father's side is traced all the way back to the 1600s.My ancestors are from England, specifically Totnes and eventually some settled in Virginia in the 1700s. My mother's side, well, I am pretty sure its British Isle as well. I always called myself an Anglo-Saxon mutt.

My family was wealthy, so our family tree is pretty well documented. We even have pictures going back 1882 iirc.
My mother is the family historian and because of a very rare illness that runs in our family, she has done a lot of research in our genealogy. The family pictures actually helped establish proof that it is a genetic illness.
My family is mainly Dutch descent, reason being we can trace ourselves back to before the creation of Belgium. Everyone is either from the part that is currently still Netherlands, or from the part of Belgium that used to be Netherlands.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

No chance I would offer my DNA voluntarily. I have an idea where my people came from and that’s good enough. I have no kids so it’s not going anywhere either. But no chance am I giving that up out of curiosity.
