The ash tree in my backyard is starting to turn. Of all the chores around the house, I hate dealing with leaves the most. The shade in the summer is fantastic though...

When I was attending Sub School in New London CN in '71 all the trees turned color. I don't recall a single evergreen.
Anyway around the base the Navy had stationed old Polaris missiles that were gutted and were just the outside shells and one of the guys in my class was a semi pro photographer and he took a picture of a missile with this wonderful fall color of leaves in the background and had the picture printed as the cover of Christmas Cards.
He showed me the final product and it was outstanding! There on the cover was this glossy-sharp and in focus picture of one of the missiles with the brilliant colors in the background and when you opened the card it read---

A miserable wintry mix of precipitation and the wind we have been having will not let the colors last long if it continues.

As I sat on my back steps tonight and not for long as it is 39'f or so out I noticed that the sun as it set reflected on the neighbors cotton wood and had a really nice orange contrast to the bright blue sky.
For a moment I thought about getting my camera but figured by the time I got the picture it would be gone.
You guys missed a nice view!

If the sun is shining tomorrow I will take some pics and post them here. There were some outstanding trees this morning.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanked: 556Well it rained today - all day - and all the colour is now on the ground.
It was gorgeous while it lasted.

I was in the woods this weekend. Although I was in Wisconsin SE MN might give you a better idea of where I was.
Most of the leaves left were brown Oak or green pine.
