Yes, you are probably right that it does vary from place to place. Unfortunately there still are plenty of reports out of the UK showing very irresponsible behavior too. Possibly the veneer is thinner for some than others wherever you are. Like you say, there are bright spots however.

While I was on my road trip March 12-20 I met a few full time RVers. Things were not threatening at the time that I met them. I'm wondering what people with that lifestyle are going through with I think all of the state parks in the SW being closed. I think that they could probably use BLM, but sooner or later they're going to need dump stations etc. I'll bet very few factored a pandemic into their lifestyle choice.

We had a bit of nervousness when we were camping in the desert and I realized that we only had two gallons of water left, and all of the bottled water in the groceries had been hoarded. Fortunately we found a RO filtered water machine and filled all of our bottles.

They shut down the resorts around here. I had a friend ice fishing in a fish house that is like a camper and told him he should isolate himself on the lake and enjoy fishing, when he told me that.

Well, made my first foray into the great unknown world of today this AM. Only outside activity to date has been putting recycling at the curb and bringing the tubs back and daily feeding of the outside cats. I was gifted an N95 mask this morning and I took advantage and went to my local Safeway where I had been working part-time till last mid-January. I was appalled by the visible lack of attention to safeguard the employees and customers. Some employees were wearing masks, some not. No visible signs of wipes seen and at the self-checkout no attention to wiping down the equipment after each customer use. What bothered me most was that the attending clerk was my former shift boss and should have known better. She paid more attention to the people waiting to stay behind a taped line on the floor. I was wearing the mask and had plastic gloves on and noted that there were more customers w/out masks and fewer employees w/masks. To my knowledge, there have been no cases reported in my town as yet, or in the surrounding towns and I fear that too many people are a little too nonchalant in their attitude toward this crisis. Watching people's reactions to my mask-wearing was varied. I could tell that quite a few (with a goodly number of senior citizens in the count) were bemused to see anyone wearing a mask. A few had guarded looks of approval. I know the requests are to wear a mask if you think you are compromised but in my case being in the top danger group of age and diabetes I'll wear a mask to protect me from everyone when I do go out. Since I know I'll be quizzed by one of my sons on following the rules I did, when I got home, strip down in the laundry room and throw all of it in the washer, cap included. I'm all set for another week of no need to grocery shop and now with the mask, I can take a daily walk to the post office to pick up business mail for my other son (I do his books.) BUT I NEED THE LIBRARY TO BE OPEN! I"M GOING CRAZY WITH NOTHING GOOD TO READ! Don't suggest e-readers I prefer ink on paper.
